Africa is a very strange continent. A dollar billionaire dies in a plane crash and more than 24 hours later, no company has come out to mourn it's founder.
Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife were killed today in a helicopter crash near Marondera, east of Harare. Nick Mangwana, the Chief Government spokesman confirmed that nobody survived the crash.
🔸Hatisi kuzosekerera zvisina basa rese. Ill-gotten wealth should be called out for what it is. Proceeds of corruption should not be used to capture and silence church leaders, artists and persons of influence. Garai maziva kuti tatoreader zhet renyu.🙌🏽

Our parents were bankrupted 3 times by ZANU PF. Imagine at 45 you start again from zero. At 55 when things are starting to seem better you are brought back to ZERO and start again. At 60 you are dragged back to zero. That is SLAVERY
🔸They manufacture poverty through their looting, corruption and incompetence then punish the people for the chaotic mess that they’ve created. In a normal country, factories thrive, farms flourish, people work decent jobs for decent pay and the poor get social grants.
Not in Zimbabwe.
Here, the people are alone so they make a plan. They hustle hard. When they fend for themselves, the same Govt that impoverished them turns around and says they’re dirty and their vending stalls must be destroyed. When the country was properly governed, people worked and made a living through organized channels. Life was neat and tidy.
If everything were equal, nobody would be on the streets selling wares and food. Nobody wants to be setting up a random stall to put food on the table and send kids to school. Everyone wants dignity and value for their work. If the ecosystem allowed, people would be working in their designated spaces. But that designation has been wholly eroded. That’s why so many swim across crocodile-infested rivers and endure hostile environments so they can make a living.
As if we do not have enough tragedy around us, Operation Murambatsvina is about to be unleashed. They’ve decided to declare war on the poor yet again. If your heart doesn’t break, you’re not paying attention.
I repeat, @ZANUPF_Official is anti-poor, anti-people and anti-progress. It’s a mess.

We have consistently made the point that the role of the democratic movement since 1999 cannot be reduced to the simple objective of taking power from ZANU-PF.
For many and indeed for millions of ordinary citizens the democratic movement represents something much deeper, a vehicle for the oppressed, a platform through which ordinary citizens can find full political expression, resist authoritarian consolidation, defend our zones of autonomy and gravitate towards a democratic breakthrough.
It is in this context that calls for a genuinely democratic movement are both legitimate and understandable. The regime has repeatedly demonstrated zero appetite for any reform while intensifying its assault on the foundations of our constitutional democracy.
This reality places a huge responsibility on those of us who represent the fight for democratic change. We owe it to the millions of dejected citizens to build a political home in which they can organise, find expression, and reject the regime in Harare.
But achieving that requires us to take stock and to do so we need the courage to confront reality as it is, rather than as we wish it to be.
It requires honest reflection, rigorous analysis of the political terrain, and the humility to learn, adapt and act.
History will judge us not merely by the intentions we profess, but by whether we were capable of rising to the demands of our moment. It places us with a choice, that is either to become an albatross around the neck of democratic change, or to rebuild ourselves into the instrument of democratic transformation that millions of our people desperately need.
