This is my photo of the Ring House that was George Washington's headquarters during the Battle of Brandywine at Brandywine Battlefield Park, Chadd's Ford, Pennsylvania. The second photo is Birmingham Hill, where--after Howe and the British crossed Jeffries' (or Jefferis) Ford about 8 miles north of Chadd's Ford--Charles Cornwallis turned George Washington's right flank on September 11, 1777 and changed the tide of the battle. The third photo is Brandywine Creek where Wilhelm von Knyphausen’s division performed a feint across the creek from the Americans and where William Maxwell's infantry regiment attacked them only to be driven back. And where late in the battle, Knyphausen sent troops across the river to attack Anthony Wayne's division.
The last photo is Sandy Hollow, where John Sullivan's, Adam Stephen's, and Lord Stirling's Marylanders and Delaware troops retreated down Birmingham Hill. The place where Nathanael Greene's 2,400 Virginians formed a line that surprised and stopped some of Cornwallis' troops is built up, but you can still feel the immensity of the battle and battlefield. Of course, I've over simplified the battle.
I served on the Board of Directors for the Brandywine Battlefield Park Association for a time. If you can go, I recommend it. Aside from the "main" park where the Ring House and Gideon Gilpin House is located, there's a QR code at the trail head on Birmingham Hill, that you can scan that takes you on a very good self-guided tour of parts of the battlefield then back to Brandywine Creek by the museum of art there.

Alas, it is fundraising time! If you are willing, you can contribute to the fundraiser for Holden’s golf team. In interest of keeping some information private, you can Ven*o me instead and I’ll send you a screenshot of the donation I put through with the funds. Thank you!
