EPPD released bodycam footage and details regarding a July 13, 2025 officer-involved shooting and in-custody death on I-10 Eastbound near Yarbrough.

NEW: A California mother smashes through a school bus window and climbs inside to get her son out - after the bus sat on the side of Highway 49 for nearly an hour with kids stuck inside. One child had already climbed out a window before that, prompting the driver to lock things down and call police. Nichole Wellington says she tried the door first, got refused, and her scared son was still stuck when she snapped.

She’s now facing a vandalism charge. Meanwhile another mother on scene made the opposite call and told her own kids to stay seated, trusting the driver was protecting them. Two moms, same bus, two completely different reactions.
