Zinedine Zidane's instructions in his first Clásico as Real Madrid coach, against a Barcelona that at the time had a front three of Messi–Suárez–Neymar:

From the very start, Zidane made the strategy clear: an organised and intelligent press on Barça's build-up from the defensive third.
He told the players:

“When Barcelona starts building from the back, we need to press with a 4 against 3 structure.”

"Cristiano your job is to cut off the pass between the goalkeeper and the first centre-back. Benzema, you go for Busquets and block his passing lanes. Bale, press the second centre-back."

That way, we'll force Busquets to drop back to receive the ball—and that will make Barça lose their numerical superiority in midfield."

He then added:

“Kroos and Modrić, don't let the ball reach Iniesta or Rakitić.

Iniesta will try to come inside through the centre to pull you out of position and create space for Suárez or Messi. Casemiro, at that moment, you mark Iniesta.”

If Iniesta or Rakitić receive the ball, press them with maximum intensity to force them to play it back to Busquets.

The goal is to close off all vertical passing lanes to Busquets and leave him only with the wide options, forcing Barcelona to play out wide.
