Today we received some exciting news from the Norwegian government and Økokrim.

The Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Økokrim) has successfully frozen and returned 5.7 M USD in stolen assets from the Ronin bridge incident. We'd like to publicly extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who assisted in the recovery efforts, especially Økokrim and the FBI in the US, for their tireless effort to track down and recover these assets for the Axie and Ronin communities.

Recovery of these assets requires close coordination and dedicated effort amongst law enforcement agencies, lawyers, accountants, and blockchain forensic teams such as Chainalysis. ~ 15% of recovered assets will be used to cover costs and expenses incurred by those involved in the recovery efforts. The remaining 85% of recovered funds will be deposited into the Axie Infinity treasury.

We’d also like to take this moment to remind the community that ~ 40 M USD in separate assets have been frozen by the law enforcement authorities. These assets will take some time to recover and we don't have enough information to give guidance around a specific timetable for recovering and returning this separate pool of assets.

Pixels has demonstrated a few key points:

• Ronin is the best place to build, grow, and scale your web3 game. Pixels was a perfect example because the migration functioned as a sort of petri dish experiment where we saw the insane growth from 5 K -> 180 K DAU upon migration from P*lygon.

• Ronin games have many measures to align incentives with $RON holders and stakers. Pixels success made RON go up. They also airdropped $PIXEL to stakers. Incentives move everything around us.

• “Polygon is a great ecosystem, right? But what Ronin had that Polygon didn't was users that were actually already onboarded into Web3 gaming,” he explained in the clip above. “For us, that was the most valuable thing that we were looking for.” - @whatslukedoing

• Ronin is now the most played on gaming chain. We have the most web3 gamers. By a lot. Actually, Ronin is one of the most used chains. Period.

What's next for Pixels?

• VIP Passes: can now be bought with $PIXEL. More bookmarks, more inventory space, more $PIXEL earnings.

• Guilds: Players will be able to join guilds using $PIXEL - the price of membership will increase on a bonding curve. Guilds look like the intersection of social and gaming. I'm here for it.

• Dungeons, Caverns, & Contestable Land: These are the most exciting updates for me as a bit of PVE dungeoning can really elevate this genre and supercharge the economics.

• MOAR Pets: these will be minted for $PIXEL.
