I'm Yuntu, a photographer and designer from Guizhou, China.
I shoot western China on camera and phone: fog in Altay, the road from Hotan to Shigatse, old streets in small Guizhou towns.
I also test AI on real photos, and I'll always tell you which part is AI.
Follow along.
A quiet pavilion on the water in Guiyang. Grey sky, red pillars, a few birds.
Do you prefer shooting architecture under hard sun, or soft overcast like this?
What a freelance photographer's day in Guiyang actually looks like: client shoots, editing, designing photo templates, and testing AI on real photos.
This is me years ago in my school library. Same habit today: find the light first, then the frame.
Sunset at Gaopo, on the edge of Guiyang, Guizhou.
Horses heading home across the harvested fields, the farmer a few steps behind.
The quiet side of China I keep coming back to.

@petapixel Smart call staying focused. Small sensors win when you actually carry them: half my Tibet landscapes were shot on a phone and nobody can tell at web size.
Old alley in Guiyang, blue hour.
Most people leave once the sun is down. I stay a bit longer: the sky goes deep blue, the moon gets sharper, and the power lines turn into lines in a drawing.
Tip: expose for the sky, let the shadows stay dark. The night does half the editing.
Shot this misty cabin in Altay, Xinjiang on a phone. How I exposed for the fog:
1. Meter on the bright haze, not the cabin
2. Pull exposure down until the sun's halo holds
3. Let the cabins go dark, lift shadows a little later

Photographers: what's one thing you'd never let AI touch in your photos?
For me it's the light. I'll let AI clean up dust spots, but I won't fake a sunrise.
@petapixel As a street photographer this worries me. With a camera, people can see you and choose. Glasses take that choice away. Consent should be visible.
@petapixel Chinese lens makers have come a long way. Curious how it renders backlit scenes, that's where cheaper 35s usually fall apart for street work.
@fstoppers Most of my landscapes from the Hotan to Shigatse road were shot on a phone. In good light the gap is small. In low light I still reach for my X-T4.
@fstoppers Agree. The prompt is never the hard part for me. Knowing what the photo should feel like before I open any tool is. AI only speeds up decisions I've already made.
