The Crow - 1994
The tragic death of Brandon Lee
-The scene the cast was filming the night of Brandon Lee's death on March 31, 1993, was a flashback showing how Eric Draven is murdered when he comes home to find the gang inside .
-Michael Massee (Funboy) said in a 2005 interview: “It absolutely wasn’t supposed to happen. I wasn’t even supposed to be handling the gun until we started shooting the scene and the director changed it.”
-The original screenplay did not have Funboy shooting Eric right away in that scene. Director Alex Proyas changed it late in production. The original plan for that moment was closer to the comic book: Eric comes home, the gang is already inside attacking Shelly, and Tin Tin is the first to react by throwing a knife that hits Eric. Then the others grab him, they shoot him, and throw him out of the window.
-This last-minute change, combined with the well-documented prop-gun safety failures (a dummy bullet fragment left in the barrel from an earlier close up shot, then a blank fired behind it with inspection), is what led to the fatal accident.
