Nigerians Risk Lives Scooping Fuel from Overturned Tanker
Videos circulating online show groups of Nigerians gathering around an overturned fuel tanker following a road accident, using buckets, jerrycans, and other containers to scoop spilled petroleum products from the ground and wreckage.
This dangerous practice has become a recurring scene across Nigeria whenever tankers crash and spill their contents. Petroleum products are highly flammable, and even a small spark from a cigarette, vehicle engine, or static electricity can trigger catastrophic explosions.
I like the fact Kanu and siblings are showing everybody that they're supporting an unknown and non member of IPOB to be the leader of IPOB.
When It was during Simon Ekperima time, they couldn't boldly show us that they were supporting him, it took Biafrans 5years to find out.
The Consciousness of National Interest:
The renewed UK–Nigeria Security and Defence Partnership signals that both governments continue to see each other as important long-term partners. In practice, this means cooperation on intelligence sharing, military training, counterterrorism, cyber security, defence reform, and broader regional security in West Africa.
Until we understand that nations act primarily in their own interests, we will continue to misinterpret international politics. Consciousness begins by seeing the world as it is, not merely as we wish it to be.
And yes, the same broad principle generally applies to the United States, Israel, EU member states, and most other countries: foreign policy is primarily driven by national interests. Those interests can include security, trade, energy, regional stability, domestic politics, alliances, and international law. Human rights and democratic values also play a role, but how much weight they receive varies by government and by situation.
For the Biafran movement, one implication is that international support is not won simply because a cause is believed to be morally right.
Governments also ask practical questions:
Does this advance or undermine regional stability?
What are the security implications?
What effect would it have on our strategic and economic interests?
Is there a credible and unified political partner to engage with?
What does this mean for the Biafran agitation?
This is the question many Biafrans should be asking, not because the communiqué mentions Biafra (it doesn't), but because of what it reveals about the UK's strategic priorities.
For IPOB and those seeking Biafran self-determination, there are several implications.
1. The UK is reinforcing the Nigerian state, not weakening it:- By expanding defence and security cooperation, the UK is investing in Nigeria's stability and state capacity.
This means it sees a stable Nigeria as being in Britain's national interest.
But, that does not mean the UK has taken a position against Biafrans specifically on the surface side of things. It does mean that, at the state level, its immediate priority is working with the existing Nigerian government.
2. It makes official UK recognition of Biafran independence even less likely in the near term.
Governments rarely support secession movements in countries they are actively helping to strengthen through security and defence partnerships.
This is why many countries have consistently affirmed Nigeria's territorial integrity while also urging Nigeria to respect human rights. This is the shift - Nigeria does not respect human rights and there thousands of evidence. So, underline that.
3. Security narratives become even more important.
When governments cooperate on counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and regional security, they naturally pay close attention to groups that are perceived as having security implications. So, for those going around and throwing violence everywhere, this is for you to reflect on.
For IPOB, this means international perception matters.
Any movement seeking international sympathy benefits from demonstrating a consistent commitment to lawful advocacy and peaceful political engagement. Conversely, allegations of violence or security threats can make diplomatic engagement more difficult, regardless of whether supporters dispute those allegations.
4. Human rights remain the strongest area for international engagement.
The communiqué specifically refers to human rights-centred security approaches.
That gives campaigners a legitimate basis to ask questions such as:
Is due process being respected?
Are arbitrary detentions consistent with the UK's stated values?
Does UK security cooperation include safeguards against torture and unlawful detention?
Is the rule of law being upheld?
Those questions fit within the framework the UK itself says it supports.

Several people are feared dead, while at least 30 others are missing after suspected armed Fulani herdsmen launched a fresh attack on Agadagba community in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
An eyewitness narrated how the Fulani herdsmen came back in large numbers and started shooting everywhere. People ran in different directions to save their lives. Many have been killed, while about 30 people are still missing. We don’t know whether they are alive or dead because many fled into the bush,” the resident said.
The attack has thrown the community into panic, with families searching for missing relatives amid fears that the death toll could rise.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Her elevation is significant because she now has several avenues of influence as a Cabinet minister.
She can request urgent ministerial representations to Nigeria concerning his extraordinary rendition, treatment, conviction, imprisonment in Sokoto and pending appeal.
She can demand that the Government pursue a defined outcome release, repatriation or an appropriate diplomatic resolution instead of limiting itself to prison visits and general expressions of concern.

Within a matter of months, the relationship between the United States and Nigeria appears to have shifted dramatically.
Late last year, President Donald Trump warned of possible sanctions and stronger measures over the continued killing of Christians in Nigeria.
The U.S. House of Representatives has since approved an amendment seeking to suspend 100% of U.S. assistance to Nigeria until the government demonstrates effective action to protect Christians and bring those responsible to justice. While this has not yet become law, it reflects serious concern within Congress.
At the same time, the European Parliament has strongly condemned the continued persecution of Christians in Nigeria, calling for accountability, justice for victims, and stronger protection for vulnerable communities.
Then another development followed.
The United States deployed troops to support counterterrorism operations and train Nigerian security forces in northwestern Nigeria, particularly around Sokoto. Following the completion of that mission, most of those troops were withdrawn, while security cooperation between both countries continued.
Now President Trump has publicly praised President Tinubu's leadership and efforts to address violence against Christians.
These events raise important questions.
Has the security situation genuinely improved?
Did the withdrawal of U.S. troops reflect confidence that Nigerian forces can now manage the security challenges independently?
Has justice finally begun to reach the victims?
Have the killings significantly reduced?
Or are we witnessing a diplomatic shift driven by broader strategic interests? One must not underestimate the power of diplomacy - it can quickly change. And as conscious citizens, you must be careful not to confuse diplomatic language with measurable reality.
The true measure of progress is not found in press releases or letters of praise.
It is found in the villages that no longer wake to violence.
It is found in families who no longer bury loved ones.
It is found in perpetrators being arrested, prosecuted, and convicted.
It is found in displaced people returning safely to their homes.
Conscious people do not outsource their thinking to governments, political parties, or international institutions.
They examine the evidence.
They compare words with outcomes.
They distinguish diplomacy from reality.
As I reiterated in one of my broadcasts, what if Trump does not offer to help. Mike Arnold asked the same question at dome point: what if Trump does not help.....
The earlier you understand that the weight of making your land the paradise you seek and safeguarding your territory lies on your shoulders.
Human consciousness begins where unquestioning acceptance ends.
