Let me help everyone out with this “face of the league” debate.
The face of the league is the player who drives the most attention, ratings, and overall interest. The best player is the one performing at the highest level.
Those aren’t always the same person.
For example, after Jordan retired, you could argue Allen Iverson became the face of the NBA because of his cultural impact and the attention he brought to the league, while Shaq was the most dominant player.
It’s the same in the WNBA today. Caitlin Clark is the face of the league because she drives the ratings and attention. A’ja Wilson is the best player. Both things can be true at the same time.

Why must air traffic controllers retire at 56, FBI agents at 57, and pilots at 65—yet politicians can keep making decisions for future generations until 90?
@cbrennansports Yea I won’t be watching. Not because I don’t support the other Fever players but we all need to do whatever we can to get the WNBA to make some changes.
@TeamJaBritt I have loved Britt lately - especially today. The writing has been perfect and @kellythiebaud is killing it! If Dante and Lulu continue to hate on her knowing how much she means to Rocco - well that’s just insane.
It is amazing that @CaitlinClark22 who has brought so much publicity for the @WNBA has to take so much abuse from many of those that she has helped financially since her arrival .The physical pounding she takes is totally UNACCEPTABLE! https://t.co/PdJO1xl773
Doyel: The culture war around Fever star Caitlin Clark seems to have led to something stupid: The WNBA is taking its most valuable asset for granted. https://t.co/tE4IJZxsu9
Since Trump doesn't want this portrait of President Obama displayed in the White House, let's make this photo of our President go viral here!
RETWEET if you love @BarackObama!
