Wonderful book launch at @stanfordstravel tonight for “Slow Trains to Istanbul …And Back: A 4,570-Mile Adventure on 55 Rides” by the lovely @tchesshyre, which was a riveting book to work on - serious wanderlust envy throughout!

Introduced my kids to the Cork delicacy drisheen this weekend, which I love (would have been a staple part of my grandmother and mother’s upbringing). Safe to say they weren’t enamoured! #cork
@Ryanair, what’s happening with the Luton-Cork scheduling? Fri night flight time is now early afternoon + no flights either way on Sundays and Mondays, looking ahead. Means people with school-age kids can no longer get back/forth for a weekend mid-term. Is this permanent?!

Word of the day is Zugzwang [tzoog-tzwung]: a situation in chess (and life) in which a move must be made, but each possible one will make the situation worse.
@downsanddirty I thought “Unlost: A journey of self-discovery and the healing power of the wild outdoors” by Gail Muller (re: Appalachian Trail) was great and very inspiring
@Taffyagent@GreatOrmondSt@GOSHCharity Thinking of you, Cathryn, and so sorry to hear your daughter and you all had to experience that. It’s such an amazing hospital/charity - not one anyone wants their child to need, but we’re very lucky that it’s there when they do x
I’ve seen a lot of debuts (& non-debuts!) recently not enjoying being published as they hate marketing and feel like their book isn’t getting noticed and they don’t know what they can personally do. So, here's a v quick list of super-easy things you CAN do...
Publishing twitter: would anyone be willing to help me out with my dissertation on sustainable marketing in UK publishing?

A wee thread about a young boy and the tweet that got away. Feel free to RT.
Three weeks ago my youngest, Gabriel 12, came home upset. His love of woodwork was not deemed cool, nor was only having 6 followers on his instagram. 1/15
@Shotsblog Ayo, my heart goes out to you - you were one of the first people I thought about when I heard the awful news as I know you were such good friends. She was lovely, and really fun to work with - it’s so very sad x
@rclarkie So pleased for him. Can’t DM you to say this but just a FYI that in his video you can see the password he’s putting in (so if anyone at school nicked his phone they’d then be able to access it), in case you want to suggest he takes it down/pops up a different one instead
