Postmenopausal women with type 2 #diabetes accumulate more advanced glycation endproducts in their #bone (highest density=warm colors in 🔥cover image by @SashankLekkala), and the AGEs increase with worsening glycemic control. https://t.co/Qql6uJL7Du
Analysis of cancellous bone from Type 2 Diabetic patients by @ORSsociety members revealed more plate-like architecture in T2D compared to non-diabetics, but damage accumulation did not differ with disease. Read more of the @DonnellyLab's new work:

Highly interactive, outstanding multimodal Q&A as young investigator awardee Shannon Clare delights #ASBMR2021 attendees with highly clinically relevant data showing suppression of bone formation markers following epidural steroid injections 💉🦴
@NatalieASims Thank you Natalie! Props to my co presenters @MorganLabBU and Lynda Bonewald for delineating changes in bone structure and bone cellular activity with aging. Loved this session!

We are excited to be starting a search for a tenure track faculty position in #biomechanics in @BEAMvt. Would love to have an amazing new colleague. Please consider applying and pass this along to any who might be interested. @AmSocBiomech@AcsmBig@VTEngineering@ORSsociety
Super proud to celebrate Erik Taylor's PhD thesis defense! His outstanding expertise in biomaterials synthesis and characterization moved our research forward, and we will especially miss his mentorship within the group🦴💎🧪🔬
I took a break from social media because it was too overwhelming during our university's Covid shutdown, and I returned to...a succinct thread on a common point of confusion for students in fracture mechanics nomenclature ❤️
People do not consistently name these two quantities:
A. Toughness (J/m2), Gc, measured using a sample with a precut crack.
B. Work of fracture (J/m3), Wc, measured using a sample with no precut crack.
They have different units. Be careful how each paper names them.
Big news! The City has just won an award from the state of $523,000 to enclose the Cass Park Rink. This will help us provide skating and hockey recreation options for young people year round.
Do you have questions about vibrational spectroscopic analysis of crystallinity in bone mineral? Our lab expert Erik Taylor answers them at #iccbmt2019 poster 11 🔬💥🦴
