@PaulTonkinson What's the downside of wearing a smart-ish quarter-zip style t-shirt/polo shirt? What tangible and measurable difference does it make to policy, markets, etc.?
@FeartheBeardy The problem is that luxuries and basics have flipped. Luxuries are cheap and the basics are expensive. We'd all be better off with cheaper housing and energy bills. Flat screen TVs and foreign holidays are cheap in comparison and cheap by historical standards.
@ItsJamesHall We’d be getting some work out of those claimants but it would cost £1016 per person per month, assuming they would be entitled to at least minimum wage.
@Jenny_1884 Prevention is better than a cure. It’s not a great idea to allow someone to commit arson, people lose their houses and lives, wildlife destroyed, and then arrest them.
@TheManInRed__@Rutler___@StoVuno@realhansard That is job/role specific but promotions and pay rises are a typical part of career progression. To be disincentivised because of 9% isn’t worthwhile in the long run.
@AkkadSecretary Posts like this are stupid. I’d love to keep more of my salary but to make out these are all required payments is disingenuous.
This calculation assumes 23p of optional (albeit generous and sensible) additional payments. Without those he would keep 49p per £1.
@TheManInRed__@Rutler___@StoVuno@realhansard I think the point Rutler is trying to make is that the reason people are turning down extra money is because of the additional hours/responsibility, not the extra cash they lose to student loans.
@RupertLowe10@JohnCleese “After necesssry cuts are delivered” no saying when the cutting will stop to fund this plan then. Sounds like austerity to me.
@nnelsonni Unfortunately, the way our voting system works means you /must/ vote for someone. If you don't want Farage, abstaining or spoiling your ballot, does not decrease his chances of winning. Only another candidate can do that.
If you don’t believe in science or scientists when it comes to climate change, then you shouldn’t believe the scientists that tell you can’t look at the eclipse without glasses. They’re just gaslighting you.
@GeorgeCassidy@MagpieRanger_@LeeJ02ncfc What would you have expected him to do in his first few weeks during summer recess? Nothing happens quickly in politics and symbolism and stunts like this can often lead to a better understanding. That’s why they sometimes go to a hospital to announce a new health policy,
@max_redington It’s another blow for Reform because they lost and their candidate (and the Reform party) didn’t do enough to persuade them to give them their vote.
