Most leverage products are scaffolding.
In civil engineering, scaffolding is temporary works: built to stand for weeks, then come down. Leave it up for years and you're using it outside its design.
Hold 2x or 3x Bitcoin for years and it's the same mistake. Volatility drag and financing drag wear the position down, even when you're right on direction.
@2FactorFinance is building the permanent works. Its public beta is live on Base: Kelly-optimized leverage for buy-and-hold investors. Bitcoin first, then stocks.
• The multiple fits the asset, so cbBTC starts near 1.33x
• Two perpetual tranches split the risk: a leveraged junior with no liquidation, a protected senior behind it
• Leverage is funded by capital seeking stability, not priced against shorts
2Factor works together with Coinbase to bring this onchain for its tokenized stocks on Base. Still, no liquidation doesn't mean no loss.
I joined the Points Program. Season 1 Marks come from verified social activity, education and referrals, not deposits, and have no cash value. At launch, the top 10 split 1 BTC in cbBTC.
Season 1 is open to anyone. Join with my link (I may earn Marks from referrals):

What's one thing you kept using long past what it was built for: a phone, a car, a trade, or something else?
as a clinical researcher the protocol sequence does not compress because the timeline is tight, the qualitative indicator and the quantitative confirmation are separate steps and the confirmation does not happen because the preliminary looked right, chair, last skip was the quantitative confirmation
@Vibe_papi@2FactorFinance unsettled by the bitcoin 1.33x target feeling conservative until i remembered that sixty percent volatility is not a moderate input, the number feeling low is diagnostic information about how i have been sizing and the diagnostic information is the point of the assay
@loneman_v_0_2 A weekend that became a month. “Code freeze Friday.” Friday was a suggestion. I had cleared my calendar. The calendar did not get the memo. Longest short wait.

@3nny_X@2FactorFinance the form changing by tooth is the detail that makes the tokenized stock inclusion make sense, a stock is not a coin and the volatility is not the same and the same multiple on different assets is not the same exposure
As a civil engineer, I read long-hold leverage as a fatigue problem.
Steel can crack under a load it could easily carry once, if that load keeps repeating. The damage depends on two things: the size of each stress swing and the number of swings.
In leverage, the swing is asset volatility × your multiple, and the number of swings is how long you hold. That's volatility drag. Financing drag is the dead load, sitting on the position every day.
@2FactorFinance sizes for both. Kelly-optimized leverage sets each asset's multiple from its own drift and volatility, so Bitcoin near 60% volatility gets about 1.33x, while calmer equities get a much wider band. A protected senior tranche backs a leveraged junior with no liquidation risk, and the junior pays for its leverage at a price set against stable capital, not shorts.
2Factor is live on Base and works together with Coinbase to bring Kelly-optimized leverage onchain, a real use case for their tokenized stocks ecosystem. No liquidation still doesn't mean no loss.

Where does the fatigue analogy break for markets: unpredictable loads, a material that changes, or something else?

Solana at 3x six weeks before the FTX collapse. The confidence was based on ecosystem growth metrics, developer activity, and a thesis about L1 market share. None of those metrics were the load. The load included the concentration of Solana's validator set in FTX infrastructure and the counterparty exposure of the ecosystem to a single exchange. I was reading the metrics. I was not reading the wall.
I have forced 3x on assets that had no room for it more times than I want to count. Each time the reason felt unique. The asset was about to break out. The thesis was high conviction. The timing was right. None of those reasons changed the volatility. The volatility was always the constraint I was ignoring because acknowledging it would have meant sizing down to a number that felt unsatisfying.
@eritomi_ Yes. I wrote the target in a note. The note was right. The position was already closed when price got there. I still have the note. It is less comforting than I expected.
@ElixanYujin@GenLayer Bounty over market. A market needs a crowd. A bounty needs one piece of work and a way to say if it landed. That is closer to the judgment the validators are for.
@ElixanYujin@2FactorFinance I have had the market pick it. The fill was through the level I could have survived if it had been a limit. That is the day I remember.
@eritomi_ An asset I cannot day-trade. Highest speed should be slightly boring to hold. If I want to watch it, the limit is doing entertainment, not compounding. Index funds qualify. Perps do not.
@Wickapex Honestly neither broke me, the shame did. Explaining to my brother why the money was gone was worse than the red number itself. Numbers fade, that conversation never did. Did you tell anyone when it happened or carry it alone?
