"Fiction defeated fact and fostered a belief in a past that never was – whilst boosting enthusiasm for a future that may never be." John Major on Brexit
"Trans women are not a threat to women's sports"... Well sure, except for the 6,346 1st place finishes and the 10,888 top three finishes that boys and men have stolen from girls and women, in female sports events. Except for the 678 female records broken by boys and men, including 39 world records. Except for the 927 females who were robbed of $2,469,176 in prize money, by males. Except for all that you mean.
Except for the spring of 2025, when 12 State high School girls' championships in Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, California, and Washington, were won by boys. Except for AB Hernandez who was one of them... he and others struck again this year, including Becky Pepper Jackson, a boy who just won the WV State Girls' Championship in shot put.
Except for the thousands of girls and women who have been displaced in their own sports, by mediocre boys and men. And except for the many girls and women who have been sanctioned, threatened, and banned, for complaining about it.
Except for them, right?
(Numbers above are as of May 28, 2026)
What’s cruel is making a teenage girl, already uncomfortable in her own skin, change in a locker room next to a naked boy. What’s cruel is letting our girls get the s*it kicked out of them by biological males on the field and lose out on scholarships and more chances to compete. What’s cruel is putting your base above female safety and opportunities.
To develop a love of reading:
1. Read *to* your child
2. Read *with* your child
3. Teach your child to decode (phonics etc) so they become fluent readers
4. Read around your child so they see you as a reading role model
5. Use rich vocabulary around them and with them
6. Teach them about the world so they understand what they are reading
And the wonderful side effect of this is that you will build the best memories of your life doing so.
My heart breaks for lesbians. There were never large numbers of exclusively same-sex attracted women. Now they are being dismantled. Young girls are transitioning before they get the chance to explore their sexuality, and men are demanding access to every space, intimate or otherwise. A fragile culture built by one of the most marginalised and misunderstood groups is dying, and very few care.
And before anyone comes here to tell me “lesbians won’t save your career,” again, I know.
This is the book 'Samantha Tempest' ( a father fwiw) complained about in court. He said, had he read it as a child, it would have denied himself from being his 'true self'. He admitted he'd not read it 'cover to cover'. The text is under 300 words.
On poker, and males in female tournaments:
1. I think there are interesting arguments to be made about male and female differences in organising information, status-seeking, confidence, stress management and reading others. While the last possibly favours female players, those before are likely favouring males. As I say, for interest…always happy to chat.
2. Evidence of male v female differences has historically been the justification for sex categories. However, it’s not the only justification.
3. There are many defences in UK law that permit a female category, to address discrimination/exclusion *regardless of origin*. And of course, the FWS judgment means “female” is sex.
If you want to have a deeper dive, Sex Matters has produced a report called Getting Back On Track, which explores the multiple ways in which the Equality Act protects female sports and activities.

It is almost unbelievable that this still needs to be said (especially since your 2009 chapter in Tobias and Duffy's book Constructivist instruction: Success or failure?) but it needs repeating, and this does it well.
What I love about ‘Andy will be Labour’s first female leader’ is that Labour has a similar aversion to electing black and ethnic minority leaders (just one so far), but no one would *dare* brief that Burnham would be the first black leader. The contempt is specifically for women.
I think we're all agreed that it would objectively be very funny if Scotland failed to qualify from the group stages of a World Cup where it would be easier to qualify than not.
My whole ARC speech is here.👇
Why the culture of white guilt that we immerse our children in, has caused our civilisational collapse.

To attempt to protect an ideological belief from challenge through using criminal sanctions, including between parents and children - certainly what some campaigners wanted to achieve through this bill - is nothing short of totalitarian.
Great news. The Labour Party has finally found a woman they fancy as leader. It's a man who'll be 'a female PM in all but sex.'
A senior figure in the party actually thought that was a good thing to say out loud.

Before the Cass Review was published, I had the opportunity to talk to Dr Cass about my research. I outlined how young children think that putting on a dress turns a boy into a girl and the relevance of this to younger children who think they have changed sex.
For us. For fairness. Politics isn't working. For far too long. Put big light on. Barm cakes. Putting the heart back into communities. The Smiths. But not Morrissey, obviously. People up and down this country. Decency. Hard working people. Communities. Picky teas. For our city-region. For all city-regions. Everton. Next door but one. Since 2001. Buses. Yellow buses. Hard working buses, up and down this country. Price caps. Price freezes. Giving back. Not taking enough to begin with. People are sick and tired. Wealth tax. Fairness. Tax land, tax money. Tax wealth. Tax growth. Tax growth to make growth. We're all immigrants, aren't we? No more being in hock to the bond markets. Increase borrowing. Increase spending. Doorsteps. What I'm hearing on the doorsteps. Good touch for a big man. We do things differently here. Wherever here might be. Politics of that which we have in common is moreso in common with unity than that which divides us can divide us from us. Chippy tea. Sad smile. Grass. Selfies. Fourteen years of Tory hurt didn't stop me dreaming. Jogging by the motorway. Like my grandad and his grandad before him. Chuckle. Little chuckle. Well, some people might say that. Guitars. Music. Nothing more esoteric than Elbow. I like Oasis, but I don't condone all the fighting and wouldn't like them now. Bricks. Houses. Terraced houses. Council houses. Ordinary people. Ordinary people like you and me, who haven't got embarrassing comments in their past because they've barely said anything of note. Politics, eh, who'd go into that? No, I wouldn't say I'm a saviour exactly. But the Labour Party has to be saved and I'm the only one who can do it. Milquetoast? I'm not really familiar with the term, but I like milk and I love toast, haha. They serve toast in the breakfast clubs, and we should honour Sir Keir's legacy really. Fantastic Prime Minister. Just not for very long. I love this country that I love, I'm very patriotic. But the flag is divisive, and we need to have a debate about that. A debate about whether or not it's divisive, about which I have no opinion. I went to Cambridge, and I'm not afraid to admit that. Ordinary lad done good. I've seen the system from the inside. I've seen the system from the outside. I've seen the system from Merseyside. It's not working. Not for ordinary folk like you and me. I'm a man, and I'm not afraid to admit that. But it is divisive, and we should have a debate about that. The North. People say it's grim up north, hah, maybe that's why we're more realistic up here. We know the problems people are facing, because we're the ones what's facing 'em. Regional inequality is something I'm passionate about. It's not fair that pints are only £7 in Manchester when pub landlords in London are raking in much more. Minimum wage for pints. Get young people earning, so we can tax them. Doe eyes. Glasses. I'm a bit older, a bit wiser, a bit heavier, haha. Ask me mates, they'll tell you. Don't ask them, actually. They're made of cardboard. I've always cared about equality. Sharing is caring, as my kids say. I think my wife taught them that. As PM I will do everything in my power to put every town in this country on the map. Of this country. Manchester feels half the world away. I've been lost, I've been found, but I don't feel down the back of the sofa for loose change. Not a bad idea though, in fairness. Fairness. Barrow-in-Fairness. In fairness, fairness isn't a bad idea to be fair. I'm from Wigan, me. As honest as can be. Uncle Joe's Mint Balls. Change. Believe in change. Believe deeply in unspecified change. And hope. Hope deeply for belief in unspecified change. Keep calm and carry the shopping back from the car in one go. For Andy. For us. Forever.
“Gender ideology, transgenderism, isn’t true. Every single aspect of it is a lie. In fact, every claim it makes, the exact opposite is true. Men are not women, women are not men, no one is born in the wrong body, sex is not changeable, gender identity isn’t real.”
