@mike_petriello I understand how starting pitching works, and it’s not unrealistic to expect a SP like Cease to pitch into the 6th most of the time. That’s what the Padres need rn, and that’s not the pitcher Cease was in 2025. Cease would not fix SD’s SP problems esp for that price tag.
@JFrisbee3@TooMuchMortons_ While it’s obvious now that trading for Fermin wasn’t a great idea, Bergert had TJ and Kolek has been very up and down. Not sure how much either would help this year.
San Diego, you’re not going to want to miss this giveaway 🫶
We are giving away a new Padres City Connect jersey just for you! Repost and reply for your chance to win!
@BigTecSD@ChangeThePadres That’s not the point. Crying about your closer not going more than 1 inning in the second game of the season is a total overreaction. The doomers are out of control already.
@Britt_Ghiroli@TalkinStros@YankeeLibrarian How about Ken’s sinister sling article blasting Machado for an incident that Dave Roberts later admitted he invented just to motivate his team? Did Ken publicly apologize for disparaging a player over nothing? Can you see how that isn’t “the best” behavior?
DSG Giveaway!!!!!
If the Pads score 7 runs today, One person who RTs this post will get our new DSG shirt!
Lineup looks deep today
Gotta be following the gospel as well!
@SergioMQuintero Signing King certainly didn’t prevent them from signing Alonso. I don’t think it makes sense to sign another high AAV long term contract, esp at 1B.
@aleks_servin@realboshek The AAV for deferred contracts is complicated. For example, Ohtani’s AAV for luxury tax purposes is $46m. LA doesn’t seem to care about paying the luxury tax penalties, but it feels more fair to make the AAV reflect the contract total incl deferrals.
@muto_victo4970 @MoveTheSticks@ArashMarkazi They can’t. That’s not what the luxury tax is for. But I don’t expect a dodgers fan to understand how things work 😔
