One should never forget the Pakistanis created the Taliban and was behind their killing of Americans over some 20 years. Pakistan has so much American blood on its hands. Why are we letting these people, masters of the double game, mediate our future peace? They are simply not to be trusted.
Saudi Arabia was about to join which could have had a major, positive impact on the entire Middle East. Peace and prosperity would result. Hamas' October 7 horror show sabotaged that bright future. Hamas is the enemy of a peaceful Middle East because that would mean the continued existence of Israel.
@herceng97@Peal8888 Yes, "transfixed". I was there and blown away by the sheer wall of sound that engulfed the auditorium and all those in it, including plant, page and John Paul Jones. John Bonham's son played drums. The standing ovation was the longest I'd ever experienced.
Yes! I was there at the Kennedy center and as a devoted Led Zeppelin fan, I would never have expected such an incredible rendition of perhaps THE greatest song of the Rock era. Annie Wilson put everything she had into the vocal. There was orchestral backup and a phenomenal chorus. Kudos to the producers of the rendition!
Leaving Afghanistan gratuitously may be the greatest geostrategic blunder in U.S. history. It was a fortress for Western Civilization in the worst neighborhood in the world. My take.
America’s war with Iran without Afghanistan and ‘what if…’ https://t.co/J18IpdfE4P
@marklevinshow Leaving Afghanistan with its enormous military power projection capacity in the world's worst neighborhood was an historic mistake of epic proportion. The Iran war is just one glaring example.
@marklevinshow Had we stayed in Afghanistan with a 512 mile border with Iran, Iranian resistance fighters could have put those proverbial but essential, "boots on the ground". And with our air cover, they had a real chance to take back their country. Plus, we had vast bases!
@crockpics Crazy on You has fantastic energy. Annie blows the roof off (when there is one) and the opening Nancy Wilson has unimaginable excitement and explosiveness. Search Google for Nancy Wilson guitar solo opening Heart's crazy on You.
NEW: An urgent phone call from Saudi Crown Prince MBS changed Trump’s decision at the last minute:
President Trump had intended to declare a complete ceasefire and end the fighting against Iran in exchange for the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
However, a tense phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman dramatically changed the plan.
According to White House sources, bin Salman begged Trump not to stop the war:
“This is a historic opportunity – we must finish the job and weaken the Iranian regime once and for all.”
In exchange for continuing the fighting, Saudi Arabia offered an unprecedented package of economic and strategic incentives.
Key points in the offer:
• $100 billion transferred directly to finance American war costs
• Full and immediate normalization with Israel after the fall of the regime
• Direct oil pipeline from Saudi Arabia to the port of Ashdod, turning Israel into a major energy hub
• Investment of approximately $1 trillion in the U.S. economy + purchase of $500 billion in American weapons
• Establishment of a new regional defense alliance, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, and other moderate countries under an American umbrella
• Joint naval force to control the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb
• Funding of strategic U.S. bases in Israel
• Joint reconstruction fund for a post-regime “secular and moderate” Iran
In the end, Trump announced a temporary ceasefire, not an end to the war as was expected.
Senior diplomatic sources describe the move as “a historic turning point” marking the beginning of a new regional order.
So true! We spent billions on Bagram, a base just 400 miles from the epicenter of Chinese nukes; Shindand, 70 miles from the Iran border, Mazar-i-Sharif, not far from Southern Russia and Jalalabad, overlooking the Indian Subcontinent. Their geostrategic value in the world's worst neighborhood were invaluable. That's what we left behind when we deserted Afghanistan l.
