@nickcontenti@NHLRumourReport Lol. You'll like Hage, Parayko doesn't even fit the Blues timeline anyways. Hage lines up better with your core guys like Thomas/Snuggerud etc.
Not all first round picks are created equal. Over the last 10 drafts:
Picks 23-32: 2 star players (Thompson, Johnston)
Picks 13-22: 7 star players (McAvoy, Chychrun, Thomas, Suzuki, Caufield, Harley, Jarvis)
Picks 1-12: 39 star players (conservatively)
Re: Larkin, I'm good with the Bruins getting him, but Hagens is a no go for me. The opportunity to draft a prospect with 1C upside is to incredibly rare, that you just can't trade that and settle. Hagens for Larkin would be settling. But Zacha + Letourneau or Zellers? Maybe.
@whsneuzneixnei Yeah for those guys I probably would. They're still not cup caliber 1C's imo, but it's the best shot they'll get since they won't tank, and Hagens wouldn't surpass either of those guys anyways.
It sounds insane at first, but I wouldn't trade for Larkin due to his age. Centers just don't age well. We're STILL yet to see a team win a cup with a 1C over 30 in the cap era.
@hockeyb40028622 The Kings prospect pool is a perfect example, consensus 1st/2nd best in the league, headlined by these 10 prospects: Turcotte, Kupari, Bjornfot, Kaliyev, Grundstrom, A. Thomas, Clague, Fagemo, Anderson and Anderson-Dolan
All you have to do is look at similar takes from 5-10 years ago to see how ridiculous those proposals sound. I love to look at prospect pool rankings from 5-10 years ago too. Do that if you want a good laugh
@Bos88Enjoyer They want Thomas, Robertson, Barzal and Larkin without giving up Hagens, Letourneau, Zellers, Zacha every 1st we have and multiple roster playersπ. Poitras, Mittelstadt, Korpi, etc have very little legit trade value outside our organization. Even Lohreiβs value is being inflated
IMO, the Bruins should avoid Larkin. It's tempting, but the 1C on every cup winning team in the cap era has been younger than him. They need to draft their next 1C. I also see Larkin as a great 2C on a legit contender. Utah, Minnesota, Montreal are my picks.
@TheSkatePod If CAR wins, where would you rank Aho/Miller among no.1 C/D to win in the cap era? I'd have them both dead last. Could this change the Bruins outlook on roster construction? The route to getting an Aho/Miller is much different than getting a Barkov/Crosby/Hedman etc.
