@BethRigby@SkyNews Was that followed by an X Factor style swerve? ‘A GE isn’t what the country wants… it’s what the country CRAVES” Cue golden buzzer pronouncing the GE. This is the only scenario in which your quote makes sense.
@PaulBrandITV Equating women’s worth with their sexual desirability is widely acceptable + goes way beyond Lawrence Fox. LF has shone fresh light on this but it is widespread and pernicious and he’s speaking to an audience he knows think this way
@WestHamDannyt “In the dying seconds of the game” - there’s 13 mins added time, there’s 13% of the match still left. Honestly they can drown anything in hyperbole
Women reading the US Embassy advice to tourists in Dublin like... but... we already do that all the time? :/ Hyper-vigilance isn't a lil vacation treat for us 👀 https://t.co/m974RT6sST
@Caerlynydd@AyoCaesar And afterwards they’ll say it was just words, ‘who me?? I never told anybody to do anything.’ But they know how their words will be interpreted by some of the more volatile people out there. And they do nothing to shut that down.
@SangitaMyska I have no issue with life terms, they’re an important check on short-termism of the Commons. A lifer can vote on principles, not self-preservation, and the Lords often keeps the Commons in check in this way. What I have an issue with is the undemocratic process of appointment.
@rob84589703 @IndyJef@PippaCrerar But if we are going to have an opaque, semi-undemocratic chamber appointed by grace and favour, then at least making it more representative (in age and other terms) is still a good thing, albeit the best thing of all would be to abolish it
@Mr_Carv3r@NoContextBrits I only did Veganuary but believe me, vegans aren’t the ones who harp on about veganism. It was exclusively meat-eaters wanting to keep banging on about it, why was I doing it, waving burgers in my face (idgaf), don’t I know plants have feelings too. Snooze.
@MattHighton I had a favourite film taped off the telly with the first 5 minutes missing and now it feels entirely wrong to watch those first 5 minutes
@Frasier67Blank @quentinrayner @mrjamesob@BBCRadio4 Only three Labour leaders have won an election since WWII (Attlee, Wilson, Blair). It’s a steep ask in this country. Who tf knows why. But it is.
@fesshole You do know it will probably take the next tenants a year of being blamed for the smell themselves before the landlord will even touch the walls or carpet. Nice one you’ve ruined a stranger’s life.
@hectorcrosbie@lewis_goodall No since Labour didn’t even win it in 1997, and this time they came within 500 votes. That’s evidence of a historic swing incoming.
Do people realise we can easily stop @Ticketmaster & co scalping us for concert tickets. Don't pay >£100 for a ticket. Don't buy from re-sellers at > face value. Refuse just once, en masse, to be held over a barrel, that's all that's needed #TaylorSwiftTheErasTour@taylorswift13
@AdamBienkov This highlights one of the perverse rules of PR, which is that if you own your moral turpitude and almost wear it as a badge of pride, you get an easier ride than those perceived to have ‘hidden’ it, who we punish for pretending to be better than the rest of us. See: Trump et al
