Using this one indicator has been the most valuable approach in finding lower time frame trading strategies.
When I first started trading I had $40 to my name and spent about 6 hours a day scalp trading throughout 2021 till I eventually turned it in to just a couple grand. As the account scaled higher over the years I've obviously moved away from the lower time frame trading as almost every scalp trader eventually loses everything.
More recently, considering these ranging conditions I decided to find new systematic approaches with smaller capital. Completely experimental.
Over the last couple of months I've spent a lot of time really diving into building automated trading strategies using a machine learning approach. Now, most people don't understand machine learning and local model development for context, but I really don't think you need it as I've found multiple repeatable strategies with just the Zig-Zag indicator.
I'm not going to bore you with a long explanation so I'll keep it quick.
The zig zag indicator is designed to track highs and lows, and what we're looking for is outliers that break a specified threshold of let's say 1% return. Simply put, the study is in finding the preceding price action prior to the 1% move and identifying common patterns and confluence.
For example, the one strategy I'm happy to share publicly because it can be interpreted similar to many other strategies like a liquidity swing or mss, is where I combine a liquidity sweep with a retracement to a local volume range POC (the price point of highest traded volume within a local range prior to breaking the liquidity high/low). I wait for the sweep of the liquidity high/low and retracement into the volume POC (yellow line in the image attached). My target is the next local high depending on the chart (I may target a fair value gap if present). My stop is below the previous liquidity low.
The rest of the strategies I've found are more complex and kept private as I think whilst there's a clear edge it'll be dumb to distribute. This one has a great historical win rate depending on the timeframe and asset (stick to high market cap) and strong RR in most cases.
The reason most people lose money trading is not a skill issue, anybody's mom can learn how to analyze a chart, the failure comes in the inability to remain patient and unemotional. I've found the best way to control this is by building a systematic approach to your trading and playing the long game.
On my live streams I will be building an account from $100 just using this one strategy, yesterday we took our first trade which returned 4% in less than an hour. Subscribe to learn a lot more in depth. Website link in bio.
