Working to ensure that governments #dontforgetstudents in their COVID-19 response. À l'œuvre pour que les étudiants ne soient pas oubliés pendant la COVID-19.
The "bare minimum" here is:
☑️ immediately freezing *all* @nslsc payments (not just the interest) until Jan. 2022.
☑️ putting the missing $912 million into direct support for students and grads.
☑️instructing credit bureaus to ignore any reports from @nslsc since the pandemic.
We are prepared to tweet nice things about any Liberal MP who joins their colleagues in the NDP, the Conservatives and the Greens by calling on the government to do the bare minimum for students and recent graduates.
All parties should agree on this.
#DontForgetStudents
What the Liberal gov't promised students & recent graduates:
❌A billion dollars for summer employment
❌A moratorium on repaying student loans
❌No loan interest collected during the pandemic
What the Liberal gov't delivered:
✔️More debt
✔️More hardship
#dontforgetstudents
If both the #NDP and #CPC actually agree on an issue, it’s got to be a pretty big deal.
Multiple parties acknowledge that students and recent grads have been completely excluded from COVID-19 relief.
What will it take for @JustinTrudeau to do something about it? #cdnpoli
100 days ago @HMcPhersonMP's motion to extend Canada's student loan freeze passed unanimously in the House of Commons.
And yet... still don't have a student loan freeze.

We're also still waiting for an official government response from @CFSFCEE@dontforgetstdns's petition to freeze student loan payments.
Reply/RT to remind @CQualtro@JustinTrudeau that we're not giving up on a loan freeze ⤵️

Students are fighting in solidarity for a high-quality, affordable #canpse that doesn’t leave anyone behind! #Ed4All is an opportunity to bridge gaps in our society like never before, with students, workers, and teachers at the centre of building a more equitable future! @CFSFCEE
@nslsc Putting this up here to add to the ratio and to encourage people to share what their experiences with @nslsc's repayment options have been like during the pandemic.
Share your stories about late penalties, mystery payments and weeks on the phone here!

Would any of our followers who have had the misfortune of dealing with the @nslsc recently care to let them know how their "Loan Repayment options" have worked out?
Their handling of the RAP program was so bad that it made national news.

People have been dragging the @nslsc all day (and justifiably so), but it's important to remember that the real villains here are politicians like @CQualtro, @cafreeland and @JustinTrudeau.
They are the ones who are forcing us to pay back student loans during the pandemic.

@FreezeTheNSLSC Hi @FreezeTheNSLSC, The Government of Canada paused student loan payments from March 30 to September 30, 2020. If you still need help, there are Loan Repayment options available: https://t.co/zPwmhsqbZH
Retweet this if you think that it's messed up that Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford are collecting student loans during a pandemic instead of providing debt relief.
Now that we have @CQualtro, @JustinTrudeau and @nslsc together on this app:
We and @dontforgetstdns would like to remind you that Canadians are still waiting on the student loan freeze we were promised.
We're a little bit taken aback that an institution that has been terrorizing desperate graduates for months during the worst phase of the pandemic has started cheerfully asking their victims to follow them.
We had some great segments last night on Canada Tonight, including the long term impacts on recent grads “failure to launch” during the pandemic. Thanks @pattyfacy for speaking with us

Students’ economic prospects have been permanently damaged by the pandemic.
Cancelling tuition is the best way to help students get back on their feet.
