@sajithpai Definite use case. This is also probably the first space of entry for driverless bots doing deliveries (more predictable vs the public roads) in India. This super last mile is going to be relevant even after drone deliveries become main-stream. Definite problem to solve imo.
Why hasnt modern food manufacturing figured making desserts that mimic fruits - low calorie, fibrous, light and tasty (like a mango)? Seems most industrially produced desserts need grain, fats and dairy (there are some exceptions) making them calorie dense.
This isn't an ad. It’s a belief in effort over everything else.
Every day, millions of Indians tap ‘Place Order’ on @zomato in between their routines, responsibilities and dreams. Some are building startups. Some are raising kids. Some are taking a break.
Different stories, one thing in common: Consistent effort.
We’re not here to celebrate the stars, but the fire that built them. The fire each one of us carries inside — while food is just the fuel.
To everyone chasing something they care deeply about and showing up for it — we're glad to be a small part of your journey ❤️
We're celebrating Zomato's (Eternal's) 17th birthday by launching the "Greening India" initiative! 🌳🌳
Over the next year or so, we'll plant more than 25 lakh trees on farmlands, over 10,000 acres – supplementing farmers' income while removing 15 lakh tonnes of CO₂ from the atmosphere over the next three decades.
So far, we've already partnered with 2000+ farmers for plantations on 4500+ acres land across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab.
If this succeeds, we'll make this much bigger.

We don't encourage order cancellation at Zomato, because it leads to a tremendous amount of food wastage.
Inspite of stringent policies, and and a no-refund policy for cancellations, more than 4 lakh perfectly good orders get canceled on Zomato, for various reasons by customers.
The top concern for us, the restaurant industry, and even the customers who cancel these orders, is to somehow save the food from going to waste.
Today, we are introducing a new feature (being scaled as we speak) – Food Rescue!
Canceled orders will now pop up for nearby customers, who can grab them at an unbeatable price, in their original untampered packaging, and receive them in just minutes.
Excited to introduce Zomato for Enterprise (ZFE), a platform designed for companies to solve food expense management.
A lot of Zomato orders placed by corporate employees are business-related and need to be reimbursed by the company. The reimbursement process is cumbersome and time-consuming.
With ZFE, employees can simply bill their business orders directly to their employer, without having to pay. Companies can use ZFE to add employees, set budgets, define ordering rules and much more. ZFE adds convenience to your employees, while we take care of the rest - with complete transparency.
Over 100 top companies are already using ZFE. We are grateful for their feedback, which has helped shape this initiative.
We invite all corporate leaders to try ZFE in your organisation. Write to us at [email protected] to get started.
Empire was the first place I visited when I went to Bengaluru for the first time in 2015. And it's easily one of the city's most popular dining destinations today.
In the latest episode of Breaking Bread, I sat down with Empire founder Shakir Haq to discuss the recipe behind the chain's success.

From a small unit in Bengaluru to many successful outlets today, Truffles founder Avinash Bajaj has found a lot of success with his mantra of easy on the pocket and diverse palate.
Sat down to discuss this and more of his insights on building a legendary brand in India in the new episode of Breaking Bread.

We just launched a new feature on zomato – gently helping our customers to make healthier choices (just in case you are subconsciously ordering something you may later regret). To begin with, we have started suggesting roti as an alternative to a naan.
We are seeing 7% attach rate for these suggestions, and we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback for this feature. We are soon planning to scale this to other dishes and categories as well. For example, if you are craving a dessert, we might show you lower calorie desserts as options when you add the former to your cart.
What do you think of this feature?
Excited to unveil India's first crowd-supported weather infrastructure, https://t.co/qE9kkfoisG. A proprietary network of 650+ on-ground weather stations, it is the largest private infrastructure of its kind in our country.
These weather stations, developed by Zomato, provide localised, real-time information on key weather parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall etc. Currently available across 45 large cities, we are expanding this in other Indian cities very soon.
This rich data holds significant potential in unlocking weather use cases for enterprises and research institutes. Having already collaborated with CAS - IIT Delhi, we expect more institutions and companies to benefit from this and contribute towards the greater good of our economy.
At Zomato, it was crucial for us to have access to precise and real-time weather information to make the right business decisions to serve our customers better. Hence, we took it upon ourselves to develop a solution capable of empowering us on this front.
We are now opening up free access to this (through an API) to all institutions and companies in the country. Wait. What? Free? Really? Yes, we believe that this data is too valuable to keep to ourselves or to monetise; therefore, as a Zomato Giveback, we are opening up access to this data to everyone for public good. Multiple companies and public institutions should use real-time weather data, to boost the productivity of our economy.
Also, a lot of Zomato employees have hosted weather stations at their homes. As we look forward to further expanding this infrastructure, we welcome volunteers who want to provide us space on their premises to install these weather stations and contribute to nation building.
Our focus on building a sustainable business now reflects in our ESG ratings. We are the only food delivery company in the world which has achieved a low risk ESG score on Sustainalytics.
Having said that, this is only a start, and we are just 1% done.
