My current job story is still funny to me.
I honestly can’t remember when I did their online assessment because that month alone, I had like 10 different assessments.
When they called me for a physical interview, I had to ask the HR about the company because I genuinely couldn’t remember applying.
Fast forward to the interview day, I almost didn’t go. The role didn’t align with what I studied, and I was skeptical about how I even passed an assessment I didn’t prepare for. (I underestimate how brilliant I am sometimes.)
I eventually went with pure vibes.
Got interviewed first.
Collected the drink and meat pie they gave us.
Left Lagos that same day.
Then while I was at Nas Jam’s wedding, HR called again.
“Congratulations, you’ve passed the interview. We need you to do your medical tomorrow.”
I told them I had traveled to Ekiti because, truthfully, I wasn’t even interested in doing the medical.
They simply rescheduled it to a hospital in Ekiti.
I did it.
Five days later, they called again.
“Your medicals are fine. Will you be available for onboarding next week?”
At that point, I was in Kaduna trying to join the military through a Short Service Course 😂
I had already decided to miss the onboarding because my mind wasn’t there.
Then they called a day before and said it had been postponed.
Funny enough, I was in Abuja that same day for an NNPC final interview.
NNPC even gave us debit cards loaded with ₦100k each. I figured they might never call us back, but at least transport money was secured 😂
When I got back to Ilorin, another message came in.
Onboarding postponed again.
This time, they attached a flight ticket to Lagos and sorted accommodation.
That was the moment I paused and thought:
“Wait… these people are actually serious.”
My curiosity kicked in and for the first time, I started taking the opportunity seriously.
Anyways, here we are… still standing 😌
The funniest part is that the job kept chasing you while you were busy chasing everything else. 😂
