@jkimballcook@RigdonNancy3@stackerco@ferrell_travis There's also a lot of daylight between absolute infallibility and being capable of serious doctrinal error when claiming to speak in the name of the Lord.
@microbrandon@Primary_Pianist That's a cop out, honestly. You believe your ordinances are much more than just a means of self-improvement. Own that.
The idea that people who sincerely believed in Jesus had no access to the remission of their sins is what is so radical (and wrong) about LDS apostasy claims.
@TheFailedBacon@Brunson20@MikeWingerii I largely agree with Richard here. We certainly lost some friends after leaving (some of them really disappointed me), and some of my wife's family relationships were strained. But overall, I didn't experience any kind of intense persecution.
@microbrandon@Primary_Pianist If it's a moot point I guess you might as well stop evangelizing since you think people will have a chance later on, right?
@microbrandon@Primary_Pianist Moved by the power of the Holy Spirit, but without receiving a full remission of their sins or the constant indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, right?
@Mordie_Kai@PTSPentax If you think all I'm doing is "bashing" you haven't read what I write. You really should be slower to judge my integrity and motives. All the best.
@Mordie_Kai@PTSPentax Okay, you obviously have your mind made up. But you are very wrong. I blog because I feel led to it by the Holy Ghost as an expression of my gratitude for salvation in Christ. I talk about differences because God has put in my heart a desire to see LDS saved.
@Mordie_Kai@PTSPentax Okay, I think you are misjudging me, but your judgment doesn't really matter. Thankfully God is ultimately our judge not you or me.
@Mordie_Kai@PTSPentax Right, because you totally know me and my heart.
I'm so glad that Christ is my judge and my redeemer. I am saved not because of any righteousness of my own, but because of his perfect righteousness.
@Mordie_Kai@PTSPentax Why do you say that? Have you looked at the Christ focused content on my blog? Do you know anything about me?

@PTSPentax Your response reminds me of Ahab's complaint about Micaiah:
"I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil." (1 Kings 22:8)
Ahab judged the prophet by the fact that his message was overwhelmingly critical. But his message was true and necessary.
@YostyTX@PTSPentax Respectfully, it goes to the heart of whether Joseph Smith was really a prophet. If the Book of Mormon is not what it claims to be, then his claim to be a prophet falls apart.
@YostyTX@PTSPentax I actually think the existence of a set of brass plates in Jerusalem with all of the five books of Moses and all of the writings of Isaiah is actually pretty close to an unquestionable anachronism (see the blog post I shared for why).
@PTSPentax@YostyTX I think we are on the same page. A confirmed unquestionable anachronism is disqualifying. A purported anachronism may not be because of insufficient evidence.
@kylebeshears@LukeFHan@MikeWingerii Yes, look at his expose of Shawn Bolz or other NAR leaders. They caused a big stir and a lot of changes at Bethel and other places.
@YostyTX@PTSPentax If it's unequivocally anachronistic it is definitive proof something is not ancient/authentic. No matter how much it looks historic in other details/respects, if Abraham Lincoln has an iPhone it isn't historic.
