Essay abt my dad's death two years ago & my reflections upon his messy life to rethink what immigrant sacrifice could mean. I draw upon Gloria Anzaldúa to reflect on sacrifice as "making holy" & as nepantla - the bridge between worlds (or life & death)

As a delivery worker and leader of @LosDeliveristas, I strongly denounce @NYCMayor’s new e-bike speed limit policy. This policy does not protect us—it criminalizes delivery workers like me while leaving app companies unregulated. It comes at a time when ICE raids are targeting our community, sending a dangerous message that those who keep this city moving are expendable for political gain.
Most e-bikes don’t even have speedometers, and app companies use AI to monitor and deactivate workers without warning—a constant threat of losing our livelihoods. Expecting us to obey a 15 MPH limit under these conditions is unrealistic and exposes us to police discretion, criminalization, and increased risk of deportation.
We call on @NYCCouncil to pass Intro 1332. This legislation would provide just cause deactivation protections, allowing delivery workers to follow traffic laws, work safely, and protect themselves from ICE without risking their jobs. No worker should have to choose between safety and survival.
City Council: Protect deliveristas. Pass Intro 1332.
NEW: @andrewcuomo just conceded the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City to @ZohranKMamdani. Cuomo had universal name ID, a $25M PAC backing him and tons of institutional endorsements. Mamdani is a 33-year-old socialist. The magnitude of this can't be overstated.
Jing Wang will be screening her documentary on our work with food delivery workers at the Museum of Moving Image on Oct 30th at 4-6pm. All are welcome!
Very pleased to announce the publication of A Research Agenda for Transport Equity and Mobility Justice! This edited volume has been several years in the making, but I'm so excited to see it in the world. Thanks to @ersilia_v, @DrDelmelle, @TheresaHarada, @Spinneycycling, (1/2)
New research article (Jing Wang & myself): examining what happened to NYC's food delivery workers who NYC treated as public threats before the pandemic and then as "essential" during the pandemic by using racial capitalism & (im)mobilities

Warm congratulations to QC Urban Studies Prof @dosik, recognized with a @sundancefest Documentary Fund grant as part of a team developing a film about its research and activism with NYC food delivery workers fighting to use e-bikes. https://t.co/IjOiCu28hs

New York City's air was, suddenly, the dirtiest in the world.
But delivery cyclist Eli Rosado told us that customers weren't tipping him any better.

You'd think that the neighborhoods placing the most food orders for delivery would be the most sympathetic to the plight of underpaid, unfairly treated workers. Guess again — @julcuba has the scoop, thanks to a smart FOIL request: https://t.co/1rixmJLwZl
