Oh boy, some Sybil from Pseudoregalia, and only two years late to the hype train, too!
I have some good Halftone Brushes I found and it's going to be everyone else's problem soon!
I'm not an instrumentalist nor do I make music in general, so I am not entirely familiar with the intricacies of what a "Drum Machine" does.
But if they can be used to skim off of other musicians hard work without their consent or even knowledge, and then create entirely new sounds, notes, rhythms and melodies that remove the need for every single human being that had anything to do with creating the original training material, and that none of the artists have explicitly done themselves, and then is turned around and used to replace those artists that were used to train the "Drum Machine" and profit massive corporations that have already been stealing from everyone else for decades, then yes.
As far as I am aware a "Drum Machine" is still necessitating human input to not only create the sounds but to also string along the melodies and music, and does not have intensive fabrication capabilities that can remove all humans from the creation of entire musical pieces.
From what I know I liken them to digital art, where the tools to do the actual art are much easier to access and use (if more expensive), but a human is still required to actually sit down, look at stuff, and move their hands around and make the art.
Lets ignore for a moment the terrifying precedence it creates and focus just on how we got here.
AI models are created by training off of pre-existing information, words, videos and images.
Words CAN be fine; thats common usage, and belongs to no one (though it can still be used by an AI in damaging ways if left unchecked).
However, all the other Data sets? Time and effort spent by human beings creating something. Good or bad, human effort went into those stories, videos, art, music, etc. that exist.
The AI trains off of this data and compiles the work of literally millions of people into a database, processes it, and then can then regurgitate it into soulless replicas of anything and everything that it compiled, based off of all the things it "learned" in terms of style, techniques, or what-have-you.
Again, lets ignore the fact this kind of stuff can potentially remove humanity from human society; in the here-and-now "this totally isn't how all sci-fi dystopian settings begin" time, it's still at it's most very basic, stealing literally thousands of years of hard work, effort, blood, sweat and tears by humans and then removing the need for those very humans by being able to replicate everything they did instantaneously without them.
Add to it the fact the ones driving this are not your average, everyday human. The ones owning, funding and driving this massive AI surge are the biggest, most powerful corporations and entities in the world. The ones who already have access to anything and everything they want with the money they've made for decades, now turning to the very last thing they dont own outright; the ability to make whatever they want without anyone else's help or consent.
This isn't "virtue signaling", this is literally the most egregious example of the upper echelons of society trying to steal everything from the world and use it to replace us.
The main problem I have is it's difficult for me to decide on something and just stick with it.
I'm indecisive, and hyper-focused on every tiny, inconsequential line and anatomical position. I want every single individual piece to showcase everything perfect about the subject.
Having a large project where I am doing the same subjects multiple times over and over means it should release some of my issues with this.
The other advantage is it will help me keep things straight since I'll have a definitive order and progression to follow.
You are very right about it being good . . . now I just need to work out the kinks and get ready for it!
Big Things Coming:
Hey I've never done an update ever before. Figured I may as well start now.
Anyway, as you all know, I am terrible.
. . . Thats it. Thats the update. Nothing much else needs be said.
However, I did want to add that for all of about 75 of you that are following me still, I appreciate it, you're beautiful and I love you, and you deserve more art and I have been bad about providing it.
TL;DR - Two Things Specifically:
1) I will be opening Commissions very soon, mostly when I can settle on a platform and payment method to do so (and subsequently, if you have any ideas I'm all ears), and,
2) I will be focusing very hard on building up at least a decent little following before next year, when I will be revealing at least one of my large projects that I will be working on, and you'll all be invited! Yay!
I have a giant backlog of stuff to do and while I still have lots of requests I have not gotten around to, I'm always open to hearing more. And then, of course, the commissions, but we'll worry about that when we get there.
==========
Too Long; Dont Bother Reading - I'll try and make this quick
As a few of you who bother reading through the books worth of drivvel I throw out no doubt realized I am doing this art for an explicit purpose; learning to do a particular style that I'll then use to do other projects.
See, my calling is not graphical arts; it's actually writing. I've been making up entire universes in my head since I was 5, and my project I'll be announcing next year has been in the works since about 2008. It's just what I do.
However, I realized that traditional writing and literature is boring to me, and if I am not properly inspired to not only create, but actually enjoy what I make, then it is doomed to fail. See, I tried for many years to make traditional literature work; but no matter how I forged words, none of it hit the spot. It did not help that I was very Tolkien-esque in how I wanted to discribe everything down to the perfectly minute detail. I want people to have a very specific vision in mind when they're reading my stories, and aside from text being exceptionally varied in it's interpretation by an individual, I personally find it annoying while reading having to remember each and every tiny detail over time as each scene plays out in my head. Thats just not fun to me. None of these things would mesh well at all with how I wanted this done.
Cut to many years of struggle to cement my ideas properly and it occcured to me when a friend lent me The Watchmen: graphic novels. It was such a simple idea, why didn't I think about it before? Am I stupid? Rhetorical question, dont answer that.
However, I also did not want to be beholden to any other entities over the course of this endeavor, big or small, as I was not going to compromise on what I want to do. I have a vision, and it will not be changed. That meant I would have to do it all myself, art included. Which, ultimately, was fine by me.
. . . The problem is I am shit at art.
See, while I have gotten substantially better over the past few years, I am still slow, and finding time to do these things on top of that has been difficult because I am not only endeavoring into many different projects and tasks, I have been setting up businesses that I have to maintain (one of which will eventually be the company I publish my projects under, but that will come later). Normally, I dont mind being a little overworked; better too busy than not busy enough. However, I have a tendency to be lazy, and I let certain things slide far, far more than I should have ever in order to make some "me" time. My work on the art is one of those things.
After a very bad start to 2025, I finally pulled myself back up and have a renewed vigor. I will be catching up because I NEED to catch up. There is no other alternative. Apathy is death, and I am nothing if not sheer grit and determination. "Me" time has no meaning if there is no "me" worth being during said time.
I'm not looking into this to get rich or be famous. Truth be told, I am not even too concerned whether my stuff will be popular at all (though I want it to be, and making some money would be nice, which I am still definitely going to be trying to do). But it is what I am inspired to do, and these are stories I myself would want to read. I just need to make them so I gave some kind of contribution to the world.
I dont know who has read this far but I hope you realize I appreciate it all. I never had anyone who really cared about anything I do for my Life's Work. I like to think maybe I'll find a few people who do along this big adventure.
As always, dont be afraid to ask me questions, either commenting here, or emailing me directly at [email protected]. As verbose as I am, I am terrible at communicating. But no matter how long I am silent, I'm not going anywhere, for the better or worse. I do not give up on things I start.
I wish you all the best, and take care in the meantime.

@Rahll What astonishes me is seeing the people who are vehemently against AI who still try to claim all these big corporations and companies are somehow on our side about it. Just because they aren't dedicated "AI Companies".
They're ALL the same people, ALL benefiting from it.
@pinkfloyd What was once a band opposed to the notion of towing the line of oppressive conformity, now reduced to groveling at the feet of it's masters.
How fittingly corrupt. If ever there was a grater example of Hollywood poisoning, I dont know it.
@Rahll The people responding positively to that in the post have to be bot accounts, or paid to do it. I dont know a single sane person who would look at that and go "Yea, thats totally not Orwellian or Dystopian at all!"
Amidst all the craziness that is our world, the constant threats of danger and wars and ills and AI taking over every facet of humanity, I hope everyone remembered what truly matters today.
Merry Christmas, everyone. It'll be nice to not be busy and get back to my art very soon.
