This afternoons treasure from the foreshore 🥰
Perhaps arriving at high tide wasn't the best idea, but that made me search areas I normally wouldn't. Paid off though.
Word of the Day: lelog (lilac) https://t.co/tODttViF3Z - also the forms 'leloc', 'leiloc' and 'leilac', borrowed from the English colloquial forms 'laylock' and 'laylac'. 'Lelog' is the name of the tree from which the fragrant light purple blossoms hang, and the colour of lilac.
I've sent a memo down to the egg production team that brown eggs are a big no no according to @sainsburys and advised them to change over their ink to the more carbon friendly white. Some have taken it on board, others are up in feathers about it.

At first glance an Elder tree's creamy-white blossoms look like a single flower 🌳💮
But each Elderflower head is actually made up of hundreds of tiny individual flowers arranged in broad, flat clusters known as umbels. This wonderful structure creates a landing platform for a wide variety of pollinators, from hoverflies and beetles to bees and butterflies 🐝🦋
For wildlife, Elder provides an abundant source of nectar and pollen in early summer, while later in the year its dark berries become an important food source for birds.
We too have long valued Elder the fragrant flowers which are used to make cordials, wines and teas, whilst also being used medicinally to treat colds and fevers 🍷
This wonderful tree nourishes both people and wildlife with every passing season 🌼🍂
🌍 World Environment Day 2026
We cannot have a healthy planet without healthy rivers.
Rivers provide drinking water, support wildlife, nourish our landscapes and connect communities to nature. Yet across the UK, they are being treated as dumping grounds for sewage, agricultural pollution and industrial waste.
If we want thriving wildlife, climate resilience and healthy communities, we must restore and protect the rivers that sustain them.
This World Environment Day, take action for your local river. Write your councillor and urge them to support stronger action to tackle river pollution.
⏱️It only takes two minutes. Contact your local councillor today: https://t.co/u8l9UVKnMB

Can’t wait to be on the road again ! The plan…. Pack the Landy, get on a boat, land and turn left. Nothing booked, just wing it. Kids, dogs, friends…….. off we go.
A couple of mornings ago I woke up about 4.30am, severely anxious, very loud self-hating thoughts racing so fast I longed to turn them off-to step out of my brain entirely. Then I realised that Steve the blackbird was singing. The beautiful repeating patterns of his tweets quietened & slowed my thoughts & I was grateful for every fluting note. Researched shows that birdsong can be more effective than meditation apps at alleviating stress. Sound up 🐦⬛🎵🧠:
Twin deco doors in oak. Great to finish a project we started in 2014! Most things are a challenge to make. These were a real kicker. Lots of self doubt half way but I think we pulled it off and can bury the Imposter Syndrome! Hard to go back to something that was already perfect!
The farm has been organic for over 30 years and now we have a managed (sort of 😆) natural regeneration things are happening. This is the only pyramid orchid on the farm that I know of, first appeared 2 years ago. Had to protect it as rabbits ate it last year. Loads of sedges have appeared this year, it’s so interesting to see the transformation 💚😊
The NHS at its best is simply world class. Seeing Mum today in hospital, so small, fragile and vulnerable, broke me. I’ve always know her as fierce, funny, bright, strong and independent. Blessed that we’ve had a week together. We’ve agreed to this make this year the best ever ♥️
Sheep sheep sheep this time of year.
Today we have been among some of the April lambers.
Worming 🪱
Vitamin bolus 💊
Ovivac P jab 💉
Scratch for orf 💉
A hard day but productive, that will be those lambs sorted now for 4-6 weeks, then they will get a booster of Ovivac and potentially we will get a draw of the biggest. Last year we sold some of the suffolks as ewe lambs. Hard to judge what to do this year with the finished lamb price but lots can change in a few weeks.
Oh and yes, i know we have a lot of thistles, if we could make them a profitable crop, believe me we would. The will get dealt with in the next few weeks.
Strange how living with foxes for 15 years and before that, many years in the field photographing them, makes my views invalid. However a farmer with his livelihood invested in the discussion is the only valid opinion. Double standards don't you think. #FoxOfTheDay
Walking in to see the dogs in the retirement village is literally the best feeling in the entire world.
They should all be dead by now but to see them here with dignity and comfortable in their surroundings is a thing of sheer beauty ❤️
Every year on her son’s birthday, his mother brings him to the cemetery to collect the gift “from his dad.”
Her heartfelt goal is to keep his father’s memory alive and present in the boy’s life. ❤️
