Yesterday Luxon disingenuously said an immigration problem “doesn’t exist” in New Zealand while the data shows the founding stock of New Zealand are now a minority in Auckland, our biggest city.

He then said “we don’t have illegal immigration in this country” while the Ministry of Immigration say in their own documents we have 20,000 illegal migrants here.

He then disingenuously implied that the only reason Farage, Hanson, Le Pen and Trump are popular in their respective countries is illegal immigration. That is not the case, it is also due to legal replacement migration. Australia is similar to New Zealand in that they have relatively few illegal migrants in comparison to the US and Europe, yet Hanson is the most popular politician in the country.

NZ First should be hammering these obvious points across if they want to succeed in this year’s election.
