A class-action lawsuit was filed on April 30, 2026, in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (Seattle) by retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and a beneficiary.

Lead plaintiffs include former King County Sheriff and Congressman Dave Reichert, along with leaders from the Retired Seattle Police Officers Association and Retired Firefighters of Washington.

It seeks to represent all ~5,500 LEOFF Plan 1 members and beneficiaries.
