Heckel #bassoon re-finish: the colouring stage. Once the wood is prepared and the stripes are ready, we mix specialist dyes and apply the base colour. Here's a snapshot of the first stage of colour & finish going on. The colour will be deepened & enriched as the layers build up.
The sounding length of a #contrabassoon! We're overhauling a contrabassoon in our workshop, and thought it would be interesting lay out the joints end to end and see its full length. This is how long it would be without any bends - our tape measure wasn't long enough!
We're currently fitting fingerhole liners on a pre-war Heckel bassoon. Over the years the shape of the fingerholes can change, affecting the tuning. Liners will restore the tuning, and protect the wood from moisture. Learn about our repairs service here: https://t.co/W9njfc4W5m
A snapshot of the #bassoons we currently have available (excluding the contra, sorry!), with more on the website and more coming through the workshop. All available to try, student to professional, so contact us and we'll be happy to help. View them here: https://t.co/H76PvIw5nu
