Gentner Drummond’s Attacks on Mazzei Fall Apart as Drummond Tells Donors He’s NOT OPPOSED to Aluminum Plant

Tulsa, OK — Gentner Drummond’s attacks on Mike Mazzei over the Inola aluminum plant are falling apart after a source with direct knowledge of a donor meeting revealed that Drummond told potential campaign donors, he was not opposed to the aluminum plant and supported the Oklahoma jobs it would create.

According to the source, Drummond went to Crowe & Dunlevy to ask for campaign contributions. Because the firm represented an entity involved in the Inola project, attorneys asked Drummond directly where he stood on the plant before contributing. Drummond told them he supported the project because it would bring jobs to Oklahoma.

Now, Drummond is attacking Mazzei over the very aluminum plant he told potential donors he supported and is suing the same project being championed by President Trump.

“Drummond took their campaign contributions and now attacks Mike and sues President Trump’s aluminum plant project, which tells Oklahomans everything they need to know about this dishonest politician,” said Carissa Mazzei, spokeswoman for Mike Mazzei. “Drummond has donated to Democrats, delayed enforcement of Oklahoma’s ban on transgender procedures for children and now flip-flopped on a major project that would bring jobs to Oklahoma. Drummond will say one thing behind closed doors and another when the cameras are rolling and why he can’t be trusted.

BACKGROUND …

According to City News Oklahoma, Genter Drummond once supported the plant in Inola.

“On the Inola smelter fight, one source with a direct account of a donor meeting described it this way: ‘Drummond went to Crowe & Dunlevy to solicit campaign contributions. They specifically asked Drummond about his stance on the smelter project because they represent one of the entities. Drummond said he supported the plant because of the jobs that would bring to Oklahoma. Several attorneys, and I believe the firm, opened their checkbook and made campaign contributions. Shortly thereafter Drummond held the press conference announcing the lawsuit against their client.’”
