Should we rethink genetic testing in older #DCM patients?🧬
In this cohort of 686 patients:
📍median age 50, 62.1% male
📍1 in 5 patients over 55 years of age were
genotype-positive
📍30% of genotype-positive patients >55 years had high-risk genotypes
📍Similar risk of ventricular arrhythmias & end-stage HF vs younger patients

Front page of The Times this morning for our lab, describing our use of artificial intelligence & panels of biomarkers to create new predictive test for Parkinson's Disease.
It is an absolute privilege to work with the superb clinicians and scientists at UCL.

Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy 1 is associated with high risk of malignant ventricular arrhythmias and end-stage heart failure. A simultaneous publication of ESC congress presentations.

Very pleased to share our work on carriers of pathogenic EMD variants courtesy of EHJ. Male carriers have a risk of malignant ventricular arrhythmia similar to that of male LMNA variant carriers. @ESC_Journals@UCL_ICS@TheBHF

Not all Dilated Cardiomyopathy is the same. ⬇️Building on #genetics data of more malignant phenotypes with RBM20 variants, at times with EF > 35%. We need to move towards identifying and managing individuals by their true pathology, rather than generic NICMP/DCM labels
I am pleased to share our editorial and review on the utility of FDG-PET imaging in patients with #ARVC that I and @eleanorwicks have co-authored!
Myocardial inflammation is an emerging phenotypic feature with much to teach us!

Delighted to see our work on RBM20 variants now out @Circ_Gen. Both male & female RBM20 variant-carriers are at high-risk of malignant ventricular arrhythmia with male sex strongly associated with end-stage heart failure. With thanks to @TheBHF and our amazing collaborators.
Do not miss the next Heart Muscle Talks session!
