@EricTheCarGuy I got a 2nd hand commercial Viking Pro fridge -- it's amazing, but all the parts it uses are customized and hard to find. I recently replaced the motor for the damper door, cost only $12 by modifying a standard Whirlpool part, of course had I bought the real one -- $185!
@EricTheCarGuy This Christmas my vehicle got a rebuilt engine. The first time I've had any kind warranty on my vehicle since I bought it new in 2005. Running the break-in period right now, but glad I didn't go down the rabbit hole of trying to fix the failure.
@SFGate My wife and I just spent 8 days on vacation in New York City (we're both fully vaccinated). Only one bar asked if we were vaccinated before we entered. Most people are still wearing masks outdoors despite the mandate lift. No one asked to see our vax cards much less an app.
@ProfHiatt@EricTheCarGuy They might be easy to replace on your car, usually all you need is a jack, jack stand and a wrench. I did mine in about 30 min and replaced the original parts with Moog links. (I know ETCG had a bad experience with them) They came with a lifetime warranty and were made in Korea.
@EricTheCarGuy I recently rebuilt a vapor canister from a salvage yard part pull because I couldn't get myself to pay $200+ for an aftermarket made in China part. I meticulously sealed it airtight with JB weld. Better quality than a junk part but also not "legal" Passed the smog visual though
@DarleneEats Mint/Dark Chocolate. There's a Birthday Cake one that is pretty good too. The Ralph's near me clearanced all the Halloween candy pre-holiday. Full KitKat bars for like 25 cents and one pound bags for $1!
@EricTheCarGuy That feeling when you spend all weekend troubleshooting an EVAP trouble code because you are too cheap to buy a smoke machine for a single job -- only to finally find the problem glaringly obvious (albeit buried) in the front engine bay.
@EricTheCarGuy I only work on my wife's vehicle because I'm particular about keeping up a regular maintenance schedule and using OEM parts. A lot of people neglect their cars until they accumulate expensive repairs hoping for a quick fix or to give themselves an excuse to just buy a new one.
@EricTheCarGuy Awesome informative vid. Now why did you have to go tell my OCD self about indexing spark plugs. These are the kind of tips I don't need to know, Eric! :)
@EricTheCarGuy I've never rebuilt a transmission myself but I must admit I find transmission teardown videos mesmerizing and overwhelming at the same time.
@EricTheCarGuy Thanks! I spent half an hour starting to make a custom mount out of a stock switch blank. And then thought maybe I should see if it just fits as is -- close enough for me :)
@EricTheCarGuy I had always wanted to have a hard-wired switch for my power antenna. I use auto car washes and my head unit has a mind of its own. I pulled this switch from the salvage yard today from an 80s Volvo and transplanted it into my 05 Hyundai Sonata.
@EricTheCarGuy That's me going to Home Depot not knowing the size of a screw I need. I can buy a 4 pack for $1 with the chance of having to come back to get the right one, or buy the assortment for $5.99 where I'll have the right one plus a whole box of screws I'll never use.
