NEW: Baseball is coming to the Old Joliet Prison ⚾️
The @JolietSlammers shared photos of the preparation underway for “The Big House Ballgame.” The team will play an exhibition game to kick off the Route 66 Centennial Celebration.
There is a long history of baseball being played at the old prison. According to the team, the first game was introduced in 1914 by Warden Edmund Allen as a way to improve morale. Baseball was regularly played until the facility closed in 2002.
The Slammers will take on the Gateway Grizzlies in the old prison yard on April 30th. Tickets are available now.
What a weekend, the #3 ranked Aurora University Spartans men’s hockey team swept MSOE in the Quarterfinals of the NCHA playoffs, they will play the Adrian Bulldogs for the 5th time this season in the semifinals next Saturday. I’m very humbled to have had the team sign a jersey .
Baseball season is right around the corner, Lonnie Wilkins and myself are gearing up for another exciting season of Joliet Slammers baseball. Let’s go Slammers, see you at the ballpark this season!!!
@SheponAir I can’t listen to them, I turned them on the first night and I thought I was listening to amateur hour, terrible hosts, content, sounded like children running the show, thug type conversations, not good at all, I now wait til they are off the air at 5am so I can listen locally
