The Abbey of St Gregory the Great. Minor Basilica. “The most splendid demonstration of the renaissance of Roman Catholicism in England“ Sir Nikolaus Pevsner
We have been absent from here since we moved - still thinking about how best to use social media. However, here is the homily from today's Mass @BelmontAbbeyUK

Here is the recording of our last Mass at Southgate House. We are grateful to the community @Buckfast_Abbey for giving us the use of the house as we continued our discernment.
We won't be uploading the Mass again, but will look at other ways to be here.

St Bonaventure, Franciscan theologian known as the Seraphic Doctor.
We move to @BelmontAbbeyUK tomorrow, so we won't be able to upload our last Mass from Southgate House until Thursday pm or Friday. Pray for us and for Belmont!

There arose a new king in Egypt, who did not know Joseph. Seemingly innocuous words from Exodus that start of a whole series of events... to put it mildly!

Feast of St Benedict, patron of Europe. Happy Feast to all the Benedictines! @BirgitteUna@osb_sister@SisterWalburga and countless others!

After a week's absence, we are back! The story of Joseph (Gen 37-50) is a fine story, worth reading in full. It has compelling characters, drama, intrigue & the guiding hand of God in the midst of it all.

The conflict between Sarah & Hagar comes to a head, but God assures Abraham that both his sons will be blessed.
We won't be uploading the Mass for the next week, since Dom Anselm will be in Drogheda for the St Oliver Plunkett celebrations.

Feast of St OIiver Plunkett, whose relics are kept at Downside. In Drogheda next weekend there are events to celebrate 400 years since his birth & 50 years since his canonisation. He was a true pastor, appreciated by Catholics & Protestants alike.

Ferial Mass where we continue with the story of Abraham, and we see some of the larger group of disciples approach Jesus about following him in due course...

St Irenaeus was bishop of Lyons, author of 'Against the Heresies', that we see read at matins. A disciple of St Polycarp, who was a disciple of St John. He was martyred around 200 AD.
