@NavyLookout I think it’s clear that there must be something fundamentally broken with these boats. Some have spent very little time at sea before being parked. I can only assume that the delays to later boats is due to fixing these problems.
@AlistairCarns What are the options here? Building lots of drones would be futile, Ukraine’s experience is that they are obsolete in weeks. Their product cycle is intense.
@Johnmcternan Trotsky and now Orwell. Two left wingers who knew the truth:
We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.
@Gabriel64869839 They should at least lobby for 15 + 1 to replace the loss. 48 + 16 =64. 3 in US, 1 lost leaves 60. 20% in deep maintenance leaves 48. 3 front line and 1 OCU.
@MtarfaL I suggest you look at the history of Royal Navy cuts. Always starts with extended readiness and then a full cut. As it is, the RN will never deploy the carriers together.
@ModernNavy@robfox45@theipaper Destroyer and Frigate numbers are devised by the treasury to precisely cover tasks. No task no Frigate. If the carriers had been pulled, so would the type 45s and so would some of the Type 26.
@FTusa284@BearJFK They should have always been B models, so that the carriers are properly equipped. Deleting will just hamstring an existing capability.
