Tip #8: To stay on top of the cold weather, use a diesel fuel additive each time you refuel. Fuel quality varies at different stations and tanks, so it’s better to treat.

Tip #7: Diesel fuel additives are intended to disperse and suspend any moisture present in the fuel and fuel tank so that it may be safely moved to the combustion chamber, where it can be burned with the fuel.

Tip #6: Read the technical data sheets for the diesel fuel additives that list instructions for storing, temperatures for when to mix the fuel additive, and the pour point of the fuel additive.

Tip #5: Do not mix different brands of fuel additives. The chemistries may not be compatible, and inside your fuel tank is not the place to discover that!

Tip #4: If your diesel fuel is not gelled, do not use Diesel Hotline as a ‘just in case measure.’

Tip #3: If your diesel fuel is already gelled up, then the product you need to use is #284 Diesel Hotline, not Diesel Treat 2000. Diesel Hotline is an emergency treatment for gelled fuel that will return the fuel’s flow in about 20 minutes. Gelled fuel >> DieselHotline.

Tip #2: If you left your diesel fuel additive in your truck or outside overnight, take it inside for about 20 minutes-ish, then shake the bottle for a few minutes to agitate the contents before using.
