@mattcolville I think The Key is the best episode for getting a feeling for the show, it has some of the best byzantine nonsense AND enough political maneuvering to make even Humphrey break down!
@tkjoinsthefray under his breath “this is so cool!” That right there is my favorite memory. The fight was epic and thanks to the rogue half the enemy swords disintegrated. But what I really loved was seeing my players invested and excited. Give your DM positive feedback! It makes their day.
@tkjoinsthefray taught the villagers how to fight, and the fighter coordinated the entire operation while the cleric prepared for the worst. Right before the battle began the barbarian gave a rousing speech and the local lord knighted the fighter. As the player was knighted, the cleric said
@MeleteStudios 100%, look at #seattlebynight. I get SO invested in those characters and want to see them survive the horrors, and a lot of it is because their players make them so funny. When characters like Vincent Gravenstein show up, he makes you laugh and shudder all at once.
@mattcolville Doesn’t that make it more tied to the DMs style though? They can award the XP based on what they reward. I sometimes give my players a level for AVOIDING fights if that was a good tactical or RP move. Could be that making what they reward more clear will help DMs with engagement.
@vampiresnvino @maeveandrea Don’t get my hopes up for Seattle by Night Season 2! I just started rewatching it for the sixth time, such a good setting and such fantastic NPCs.
@SSkorkowsky I run a TTRPG camp for kids and we started out all D&D. We’ve been doing this over half a decade now and thanks to the videos you’ve made I’ve introduced them to CoC, Traveller, and Cyberpunk. They love em all! In fact I’m running Flatlined for them this Sunday.
@OSPyoutube Really only like this troupe when it’s a joke, because it rarely feels like a surprise. If an episode/chapter seems to have inordinate amounts of game changing events, you suspect it’s a dream. But if turns out to be a dream and DIDN’T have those catastrophes, what was the point?
@IScreamDice Mongoose Traveller is quite a lot of fun, though everyone needs to be down a lengthy process. ICONS is also good, particularly when it lets players shape each other’s enemies.
