I had workers at my house recently.

I made them chocolate chip protein pancakes, checked on them, asked about the work. They're great guys and I loved having them at the house.

One of their friends had been abducted by ICE less than a week before.

I passed out Miranda rights cards & we hugged.
Told them if they ever needed anything to ring my doorbell or call me. My gate is always unlocked even if I'm not here. If you need someone to go to court with you, I will.

They left telling me how nice I was in a way that reminded me that most people aren't.

I held it in until they left. I'm so worried about them and even right now I feel like I don't have the words to describe how emotional I am knowing that what I can do is so paltry.

I know the tides are changing and things are going to get better, but every day that they aren't more people are suffering.

So much is being done that can't be undone.

Patience is a virtue but it's also a privilege.

Sometimes telling people to be patient just feels like telling them to die quietly.

the fact that speaking against israel’s treatment of palestinians is considered “political” horrifies me. 92% of homes in gaza destroyed. 34/36 hospitals destroyed. thousands of children dead, often done fully intentional with gleeful malice. aid being blocked while civilians starve & the people who attempt to bring the aid are tortured & assaulted. innocent families being driven from their homes for israelis to take as their own. prisoners being raped & the perpetrators celebrated for it. none of these things are “political,” they are human rights violations & downright evil.

& none of these things are “theories” you can pretend aren’t happening anymore. the UN knows it, the ICC knows it, most of the world knows it. millions of jewish people have no problem calling it a genocide & the majority of jewish people in american are critical of netanyahu, so calling it antisemitism to do so is a farce.

& before you feel the need to say blah blah blah hamas or whatever, the united states is not sending billions of your tax dollars worth of highly destructive bombs to hamas. you are not funding hamas. saying “the other guys do bad things too” is whataboutism when you’re deflecting from your complicit support of evil. bad people do bad things everyday in this world & using children as target practice will NEVER be the right answer to it, no matter what you think they did first. it’s truly disgusting to even suggest that. BE BETTER.
