@tombos21 simple example: I can profitably 3bet bluff the bottom of my range in BB vs SB steal scenario vs fish (is that what my hand wants facing a steal?), but even higher EV exploit might be to just call, take the hand to the flop, bluff raise his range cbet and get an overfold
@tombos21 now imagine you’re playing low stakes and have a population read that once IP checks back flop, their range is unbalanced- heavily skewed towards hands that want to show down. might be able to make defending even 72o +EV (until they see our bs hand and adjust (rare))
@UriPelegPoker that’s me - up a few buyins and mindset automatically switches into trying to lock up a nice winning session . start being less agro, battling less, x/r less, avoiding close spots and thinking about wrapping up
luckily don’t have problem getting up & moving on when doing badly
@UriPelegPoker I know a lot of it comes down to nut / range advantage, % of opponent range that has us beat, etc.. but struggling to incorporate all that in real-time decision making. I’m often surprised why solver chooses to go all-in with nutted hand in one spot, while going B50 in other spot
@UriPelegPoker how to think about/ mental framework to work out optimal river bet sizing
I often find myself on the river, either with value hand or running a bluff trying to mimic value hand that wants to bet - and struggling to work out “appropriate” bet size for the hand class i want to rep
