Just to recap the events here:

-A married Republican congressman has been having an affair for a year
-That woman called police and told them he assaulted her and allowed them to listen as he "instructed her to lie" about her injuries' origin
-Upon police arrival, she showed them bruises that the officers called "fresh"
-The woman recanted her story after being told he would be arrested. The DC police nonetheless sent a warrant for his arrest
-The U.S. Attorney's office that today proclaimed itself "President Trump's lawyers" refused to sign it
