Everyone at @linear is a builder at heart. When the team came together in Copenhagen this year, we set out to capture what it feels like to build together across 15 countries, 10 time zones, and one shared obsession with craft.
Next batch of ambitious work at Linear is getting set, and I need a few more engineers. Looking for the best product engineers who've done at least 1:
- built and rebuilt an agent harness
- pulled realtime insights from massive amounts of data
- managed 50+ integrations
If product quality is an issue that frustrates you at work, here's the #1 way to make a difference: start fixing shit.
Don't try to fix the system, have long discussions about it, complain to your manager/peers. At least not yet. Just go. Fix 5+ things every week. Share with your team. Build momentum.
Action builds credibility, and you'll get surprisingly far on it alone.
Or just come work with me at Linear
Important for employees to ask some of these questions about equity before joining.
Sometimes founders just don’t have their own experience these things so they don’t prioritize the employee equity.
At Linear we tried to make it friendly as possible since the beginning:
early exercise, 10y exercise window, reminding people about their 83b election, pushing back on 409a valuations, keeping company valuation in check and increasing over time, informing people about qsbs, and now running employee liquidity programs for all past and current employees.
Earlier this year, Linear passed $100M in annual recurring revenue with over 40,000 paying customers, including OpenAI, Figma and Salesforce -- all while remaining cashflow positive.
Instead of raising cash we do not need, we completed a $99M tender offer at a $2.5B valuation. Startups are one of the few places where the people doing the work own a real piece of it. Sometimes that ownership turns into money that actually changes something (a down payment, years of freedom to go build the thing you've been thinking about). I've been on the receiving end of that. Getting to help run a company where other people can realize those outcomes is the part of this I care about most.
We still believe a small, focused team can accomplish far more than people expect. Maintaining quality as the product expands requires scaling thoughtfully. We currently have 30+ open roles. If you want to build what comes next with us, we're hiring.
While I didn't work on this directly with Peter, I was around for a lot of the iterations.
It's crazy how in the day to day things like this just feel like "another day at the office", then you go read the blog post and realize... damn I work with some of the smartest people.
btw... We're Hiring
