Behind the book: A Scottish broch, as mentioned in the most recent ep of Grung, is a type of old drystone tower first seen in Scotland ~500AD. Somehow, these prehistoric mad lads could build a 15 m (50 ft) high tower without any mortar. #amwritingfantasy #scottishhistory

Given their imposing stature, it's likely they were used as defensive structures a bit like an old castle.
