@Loyal2tGo17 So when branches are broken off in the NT for unbelief and when lampstands are removed for impenitence then the NT church is replaying/reiterating the pre-fall history of Adam?
"Israelโs history in the Old Testament economy was a history of redemption, and not a history that replays/reiterates the pre-fall history of Adam."
- C. Venema
but of that dignity and honour which he had as the first-born of every creature, and heir of all things. That sonship which he had, as he was born from the dead; 'Thou are my Son, this day have I begotten thee,' namely in the resurrection..."

Is David Garner arguing for something similar to what Westminster divine Edward Reynolds said below?
"Being thus united unto Christ...Fourthly, The sonship, and, by consequence, inheritance of Christ is ours. I speak not of his personal sonship by eternal generation,

"A filial fear of God and of fatherly displeasure, is worthy of the believer, being a fruit of faith, and of the spirit of adoption; but a slavish fear of hell and wrath, from which he is delivered by Christ, is not a fruit of faith, but of unbelief." ~ Marrow Men
as touching the faithful in the old Testament which embraced Christ the mediator of the covenant of grace...being justified in him which was to come, and regenerant by his grace, the promises of eternal life were made under condition of the works of regeneration"

R. Rollock:
"I grant that the works of regeneration are necessary unto eternal life promised in the Gospel, but not as merits...but as the means and way...they may also be said to be causes, after a sort: for they please God in Christ, and in some respects move him...

Does God promise eternal life to his people who persevere in good works/sincere obedience?
If you have been reared in NAPARC circles, then you will probably think that the answer is obvious: a hard no.
But deeper study in Scripture and the Reformed tradition challenges you to
The Church of Scotland confused law and gospel. God doesn't promise eternal life for sincere obedience. Sincere obedience is only possible if u are born again, given faith, justified, adopted, and in union with Christ. Btw Marrow Men affirmed without holiness no one will see God.
"the obligations of obedience in the Mosaic economy are essentially the same obligations that accompany the promises of grace in every administration of the covenant of grace."
- C. Venema
If the Mosaic cov is the same in substance with the new cov, then what John Murray says (what some call monocovenantalism) must be true:
โthe demand of obedience in the Mosaic covenant is principially identical with the same demand in the new covenant of the gospel economy.โ
Important to distinguish between the law/gospel distinction and the law-gospel hermeneutic.

3. Deuteronomy is not a law code but sermonic addresses from Moses to Israel.
4. I find it odd that people would consider my post "bait" or "just being provocative." Esp. since these same people wouldn't consider "Law as do and Gospel as done" as just being provocative or bait.
A few observations about this post:
1. There is more than one use or meaning of Law and Gospel. In the Reformed Tradition, one use of Law is CW and one use of Gospel is CG. Classic Reformed covenant theology views the MC as the CG. Deuteronomy is about the MC and thus CG.
IOW, Moses is not administering the Law or CW in Deuteronomy, but the Gospel or CG.
2. The title "Deuteronomy" is from the LXX translators. And it is a mistranslation. Not second, but copy of law. And law is torah = instruction, teaching, which is about CG not CW.
