At 21, Savendra has fought crocodiles, braved insect bites and stepped into polluted water to clean the water bodies in his village in Gan Gura, UP.
He has helped remove around 10,000 kg of waste, including from the 10-acre Amrit Sarovar, because he believes these spaces cannot be treated as dumping grounds and forgotten.
Water is life, but protecting it cannot only be someone else’s responsibility. Every bottle, plastic wrapper and piece of waste thrown into a pond eventually becomes part of a much bigger problem.
Savendra’s story is a reminder that restoring a water body takes courage, patience and responsibility. But it also begins with something much simpler: recognising that the water around us belongs to our future too.
His work asks an important question: If water sustains us, shouldn’t protecting it be our responsibility too? If you want to help him, please contact : @ssvlogs88

Like Bittu Tabahi, 19-year-old Kartik Sahani decided to take action and create change himself. The Tamsa River in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, had become filled with waste. Kartik’s family’s farmland depends on this very river for irrigation. So he made a decision: He would clean the river himself. Every day, he spent 3–4 hours in the river cleaning it. In just 22 days, he removed more than 1,000 kg of waste. Now, after the river, his next target is a pond in his neighbourhood. Because creating change doesn’t always require a big team. Sometimes, one person taking the first step is enough. Is there a place in your city that needs to be cleaned up too? @kartiksahaniii #KartikSahani #TamsaRiver #RiverCleanup #CivicSense #YouthForChange [Kartik Sahani Tamsa River cleanup, 19 year old cleaned Tamsa River alone, Kartik Sahani river cleaning Uttar Pradesh]

“We are using our own hands to clean the poison people throw away.
But slowly, people began joining us too.
Members from Ashok Vihar, including Vikas Khari ji, Samay Singh ji, Dr Mudita ji and Dr Sunil Kumar Mishra ji, supported the campaign. The principal of Lakshmibai College also came to join us.
And sometimes, one sentence from a child makes everything worth it.
“Bhaiya, my lane is clean today. Maa is happy.”
That is the biggest emotional reward.
Since 1 September 2018, we have worked every Sunday, without stopping.
More than 1,600 children and young people have joined us, with 350 active volunteers.
We have cleaned dozens of parks, hundreds of lanes, the Yamuna banks, and now several ghats along a 3-km stretch of the Munak Canal.
And we don’t just remove waste.
We plant trees too, and look after the saplings for three months.
Over the years, we have removed thousands of tonnes of garbage, debris and plastic.
In just the last two Munak Canal drives, 50 metric tonnes of waste was removed, a figure also recorded in MCD’s official records.
And there is a bigger dream.
I want to build a school for 1,500 children, where they learn to become protectors of the environment.” – Vinay Das

What if your food waste could power a village, or an EV?
Kanjirangal in Tamil Nadu is turning biodegradable waste into biogas and electricity, powering streetlights and battery-powered vehicles while producing nutrient-rich manure. This waste-to-energy model shows how food waste can become clean energy instead of ending up in landfills.
From biogas plants and sustainable villages to electric mobility and circular economy solutions, Kanjirangal is proving rotten food can be a resource.
Could your city do this too?
