this is such childish socialist garbage, the idea that anything other than being presented unconditionally with all the greatest things in life from day 1 is deeply unfair to you and cause for complaint.

we are not yet in a post scarcity civilization. until then, a large number of people do in fact need to keep working. we’ve come up with an extremely sophisticated system (took us over 10,000 years!) that incredibly gets the most work done while also giving individuals unprecedented freedom to choose what they do and where they live. it’s quite literally the best system to ever have existed by any metric. it’s not perfect, but it’s also not a scam just because it requires you to actually do something useful with your life instead of just rotting on the couch.

the unreal slander is so out of control. i literally just built a pc using all “most commonly used on steam” parts and a 5060 and could run arc raiders just fine, looked great. and on the higher end we have literal indie devs making photorealistic shooters (which, yeah, are optimized like shit because it’s made by two people and oh yeah ITS PHOTOREALISTIC). so no, it’s not the engine.

but what pisses me off about people saying this is you’re implicitly cheerleading for a market in which like a dozen corporations with enough capital to maintain proprietary engines will make all the games. UE is literally the only thing that makes all the indie devs possible. you can name like two real games on unity and non on godot.
