Hearing voices/noises other's can't hear is not that uncommon in childhood, as we discussed on @VictoriaLIVE today. Voices can be one or many, kind or mean & scary, or a mixture; wanted and valued or unwanted. We know we have much to learn through the @youngvoicestudy@ManMetUni https://t.co/q6RUPVewQc
One in 12 children is thought to persistently hear voices that are not there.
Now research suggests adults’ reaction can affect what they hear in future. @jamesmelley reports https://t.co/6OcmNdV3dL

Across Greater Manchester, 30 children have joined a pioneering talking therapy trial to help those who hear voices, see visions and experience or feel presences others don’t.
The ChUSE trial is a feasibility study exploring tailored support for children. Details on our website.
We have has signed a joint statement with other major UK research funders, committing to better inclusion of older adults in health and care research ✍️
The statement sets out a shared commitment to actively support the inclusion of older adults in research, challenge unjustified exclusion and ensure that research is designed with equity in mind and better reflects the diversity of the UK. With inclusion being a condition of funding, NIHR wants to see more researchers include older people in their funding applications.

“We are very clear that research inclusion is essential—not political. If your research isn’t representative, it’s not going to improve outcomes across our population… This isn’t just moral; it’s scientific and economic.”
