My two favourite beings - my husband @drWazAus and our horse Squirrel. They both love their morning ride on our terrain in Le Parcq!

They’re best mates, and they are my best mates. They’ve recently taken to snuggling and kissing. Squirrel and Grisou - the best boys in the world! @drWazAus

Our boys Squirrel and Grisou are super-vigilant and on highest of alerts after a herd of 3 cows and 3 heifers moved into the paddock next door to
our terrain in Le Parcq - what with their mooing and munching and other strange non-horse and non-donkey behaviours!

Here’s our beautiful boy Grisou - poking through the fence in our paddock in Le Parcq. He is smart and kind and curious and loving and a good friend to our horse Squirrel!

We trotted off to Chaumes en Brie and think we’ve found our horse. He’s Ecureuil, and is sweet and willing and responsive, and @drWazAus and I think he IS the addition our family in Hesdin needs! Saying bonjour to a few more prospects today in Nantes, but Ecureuil front runner!

Mucked out the stables, got the bales of hay in, cleaned out the troughs - with handsome, horsey husband @drWazAus now awaiting on Friday the arrival of Ecureiul (Squirrel) - our beautiful 9 year old bay gelding who found us as much as we found him!

Our lovely boy Squirrel is enjoying his lucern & molasses - taking it slow, having a munch, going for a wander, coming back, having some water, off for another wander. He joined us nearly 2 weeks ago and was underweight - so @drWazAus & I are enjoying fattening all 3 of us up!

I’ve always loved medieval vestiges - I might even be one myself! This one in Ceurs, a beautiful village in the Var, which today had a market smelling of lavender, wood fires, cooked chook and olives! It was all I could do not to partake of every tempting morsel.

Well the Departement du Var makes me light on my feet and happy and full of wonder - beautiful cities, historic hilltop villages, the mountains and the sea, vineyards, sunshine at Xmas and the best local and regional food and wine! #toulon #hyeres #sttropez

Best. Decision. Ever. To spend these winter months on the Mediterranean in the Var, with temperatures between 16-20 every day, sunshine, so many new places to explore, and easy for both @drWazAus and I to work from here! Another month before we head back to Pas-de-Calais!

One of the deep joys of the south of France is seeing and touching and smelling the wide variety of eucalyptus trees, taking root all over - salmon gum and swamp gum and scribbly and snow and blue and red and others! #homesickforAustralia

Who knew Valence was so beautiful. Just here overnight, but fab dinner out, shopping, and stroll through Xmas markets. On my way with @drWazAus to La Londes-les-Maures on the Mediterranean for a slightly less brutal winter than our home in northern France!

I found my happy place, here on the Mediterranean, where @drWazAus and I are spending most of winter. Just a walk around from plage l’argentiere, and along the sentier littoral, I found a ready-made rock-seat, under a tree, on the very edge of the sea.

It’s a Mediterranean sunrise in La Londe-les-Maures, with a full moon behind me, and my gorgeous, generous, gentle husband @drWazAus returns from working in London today, I pick him up in Toulon, and he is my morning sunrise and my full moon.

Early morning walk with my love @drWazAus on the Route de Sel near Hyeres, with the Mediterranean on one side, and expansive salt marshes on the other, with a chill in the air bit the morning sunlight working it’s magic !

Oh wow! Corfu! Dreamt of this for so long, and exceeds all expectations - where pomegranates line the streets, the sunrises are spectacular and at this time of year the temperature is divine and the restaurants not heaving.
