I Fasted for a Job for 30 Days… My Friend Used My Information to Apply.

When my mentor announced a 30-day fast for career breakthroughs, I took it seriously.

Because there was a position I truly believed God had prepared for me.

The role matched everything I had been praying for.

The salary was good.
The organization was respected.
And the job description looked like someone had written it with my CV in mind.

So when the fast began, I added a private prayer request:

“God, if this job is mine, please open the door clearly.”

I didn’t tell many people.

Well… except my prayer partner.

Let’s call her Mia.

Every evening during the fast, Mia and I prayed together on the phone.

We shared prayer points.
We declared scriptures over our careers.
We spoke about breakthrough like it was already on the way.

One night during prayer, I even told her about the job.

The company name.
The position.
The application process.

I said quietly:

“I haven’t told anyone about this yet. I just want God’s will.”

She sounded excited for me.

“That job already sounds like yours,” she said.
“Let’s pray God gives you favor.”

So we prayed.

Thirty days of discipline.
No distractions.
No shortcuts.

Just faith.

Then one morning I opened LinkedIn.

And my chest tightened.

There was Mia.

Standing in front of the company building.

Her caption read:

“Grateful to start my new role today. God answers prayers.”

My hands started shaking.

The same company.

The same position.

The same job I told her about during prayer.

The one she encouraged me to “trust God” for.

I checked the posting again.

Applications had closed earlier than expected.

And somehow… she had applied.

Behind my back.

Using the information I shared with her during prayers.

I didn’t confront her.

I just sat there staring at the screen.

Realizing something painful:

Not everyone praying with you is praying for you.

Some people are simply listening carefully…
so they know where the opportunity is.

Today, Nigerians woke up again to the troubling news that the Federal Government is planning to borrow about ₦20 trillion in new loans to finance the 2026 budget. This is at a time when debt servicing alone is projected to gulp nearly half of our national revenue, and when our borrowing requirement has surged by over 72%.

At a time when Nigerians are struggling under unprecedented hardship, insecurity, and unemployment, we must ask the most important and logical questions: Where is the revenue from 2025?

How can we be discussing trillions in new borrowing for 2026 when we are still implementing the 2024 budget? One is genuinely worried. This suggests, very clearly, that the 2025 budget is still untouched and unimplemented.

So, where are all the revenues that accrued in 2025, even when we were told that we had surpassed the revenue targets since August?

It is time for us to stop this fiscal rascality, especially with uncontrolled and unexplained borrowing that is not being invested in the productive sectors of our nation, but instead ends up in consumption.

We cannot keep mortgaging the future of our children through thoughtless borrowing.
We cannot continue this way.

For years, I have consistently maintained that Nigeria cannot borrow its way into prosperity. Nations do not develop by consuming more than they produce. They develop by producing, exporting, and creating value, while building strong institutions that ensure accountability and efficient use of public funds.

We cannot tell Nigerians that revenue is increasing while simultaneously increasing borrowing to ridiculous historic levels. Governance must be built on transparency, not propaganda.

We cannot build a new Nigeria on the foundation of misleading figures, rising debts, shrinking production, and continuous hardship.
Our nation must move forward.
