I finally entered flight for the first time in my life and let me just confess… nothing prepared me for this experience 😭✈️

First of all, why did nobody tell me that airplane window is not for “opening breeze”? I sat down confidently like a big boy, saw the window, and my village mind was like, “ahh fresh air go soon enter.” Only for me to realize this one na permanent glass. No ventilation. Just vibes.

As the plane started moving, my heart started doing gbas gbos like it wanted to resign from my body. The speed alone? Omo, even okada never reach this level. Next thing, the plane lifted… I swear my soul remained on ground for like 3 seconds before it followed me up 😭

Then the air hostess came smiling like nothing was happening. Offering snacks like we are not in the sky risking our destiny. I collected it sha… because if anything happens, at least make I chop small before I go 😂

Turbulence came and I held that seat like it owed me money. The man beside me was calm, meanwhile I was already pricing parachute in my head. I even started praying in all languages I know… including the ones I don’t know.

But see me now, forming champ, snapping selfie like I’ve been flying since 2002 😎 Meanwhile inside me, na “God abeg land this plane safely” full my heart.

First flight experience? 10/10 for adventure, 2/10 for peace of mind 😂

But one thing sure… once you land safely, you go dey feel like say you don achieve something big. Next stop… Ethiopia.

I watched a documentary about former Super Eagles player Tijjani Babangida, whose family recently suffered a tragic accident. His beautiful wife, Maryam Waziri, sustained critical injuries while his son and brother died. He was also lightly injured.

Soon after the accident, his former club, Ajax, held a minute's silence before a match in honour of Tijjani's family. That was a great move by the club.

In the documentary, Tijjani and Maryam are in the Netherlands for the latter's surgery and recovery. Luckily, Tijjani has a Dutch passport, which made their trip easier. However, he did not have health insurance. Without it, affording serious medical care in the West is almost impossible.

However, Tijjani's former teammates and trainers came to his rescue. They provided him with beautiful accommodation and adequate funds. Subhanallahi! I am speechless!

Do you remember my post on the Dutch player (Tijjani Reijnders) named after Tijjani? People can be very humane and remarkable. Moreover, Tijjani must be a remarkable person, too.

“There are other curious items I have seen in the proposed budget. One glaring example is the plan to transfer N146.14 billion to MOFI (Ministry of Finance Incorporated) as counterpart funding for the Lagos Green Line Metro Rail Phase 1.

This raises many questions.

The proposed allocation for the metro-line within a state is 65% of the capital budget and 57% of the entire budget of the Ministry of Transport.

If this is counterpart funding from a recapitalised MOFI, why is the money coming from the budget of a federal ministry?

Why can’t MOFI raise its counterpart funding from the market?

How was the decision arrived at that this is a project to invest federal money into and will such facility be available to other states outside of Lagos?”

Air Congo, which started flying on December 1st, is the new national flag carrier jointly owned 51/49 by the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (#DRC) and Ethiopian Airlines (ET), one of the world’s 30 largest carriers and by far Africa’s largest and most profitable.

Air Congo is an excellent example of intra-Africa FDI and a model for strategic partnership amongst Africans. Big Congratulations!

Note: The Air Congo business model is similar to the 51/49 model that’s proposed for #Nigeria’s national carrier, Nigeria Air.

Unfortunately, two privately owned local Nigerian airlines - Air Peace and United Nigeria Airline - led a well orchestrated campaign via social media, traditional media, lawsuit, etc., to prevent Nigeria Air from taking-off and to eliminate real competition, despite approval by the government of Nigeria including H.E. the President. Sadly, millions of Nigerians have now been deprived of flying on a strong, reliable, successful, affordable and sustainable Nigerian airline.

The successful take-off of Air Congo should be a best practices lesson to the entire airline industry across Africa, especially Nigeria.
