Breaking News:

India's self-appointed supreme Council of Outrage has discovered a new national security threat: an Army officer proposing to his fiancée in front of a helicopter.
Not operational readiness. Not border security. Not military strategy.
Just a sweet, sincere proposal.
Apparently, there are now thousands of civilian experts who have never worn a uniform, never commanded troops, and never been responsible for military assets, but are suddenly qualified to lecture the Army on its protocols.

Here's a radical idea: if there was a breach of protocol, perhaps the Army is fully capable of determining that itself. And if there wasn't, perhaps the outrage industry can survive without manufacturing another crisis.

The Indian Army has spent decades building one of the world's most respected military institutions. It probably doesn't need social media juries conducting disciplinary hearings based on a 30-second clip.

By all means, have an opinion. But maybe leave military regulations, asset usage, and disciplinary standards to the people who actually write, enforce, and live by them.
Not every helicopter in a photograph is a national emergency. Sometimes a proposal is just a proposal.

The Army can defend the borders. It doesn't need defending from every trending hashtag.

I was paraded through the unit on an open horse cart along with my newly wedded wife, while the unit band played cheerful, playful tunes in uniform. I would like to know whether this act too would invite any disciplinary action.If the army initiates any proceedings in this matter, it would be entirely unjustified. The institution should stand by its officer rather than penalising a harmless and joyful celebration.

Military equipment has been on display during many ‘Know your Army’ exhibitions around the country. The students and non military personnel have clicked pics with it showing pride and love for the Army. So, please don’t bring in the national security angle into this.

यह फालतू का bureaucracy का नाटक बंद करो: Indian Army किसी Officer को एक viral soundbyte के लिए scapegoat नहीं बना सकती, खासकर तब जब उन्होंने खुद ANI और media houses को event cover करने की official permission दी थी। ऐसे raw और unscripted moments, military events में हमेशा होते हैं; फर्क बस इतना है कि इस बार camera चालू था। Internet की reaction देखकर किसी Officer को फंसा देना pure cowardice (कायरता) है। इसकी असली accountability Indian Army के top brass और उस Officer की बनती है जिसने press को वहाँ आने की इजाज़त दी; आप national media को public event में खुद बुला कर फिर यह रोना नहीं रो सकते कि उन्होंने हुबहू वही दिखा दिया जो वहाँ हुआ। Army के पास बस दो ही options हैं: या तो अपने internal operations को बचाने के लिए media coverage को पूरी तरह ban कर दें, या फिर उन cameras के नतीजों की ज़िम्मेदारी लें जिन्हें उन्होंने खुद invite किया था। Media management में अपनी खुद की गलती और अदूरदर्शिता को छुपाने के लिए वे किसी Officer को बलि का बकरा बिल्कुल नहीं बना सकते।
